I was going to do an overly detailed comparison between these bags and some of the competition. But, plenty of people have done a great job of that already. Instead, let’s just get into it. As a note, there are definitely some great options as far as environmentally friendly bags, those made with recycled materials and those which help support animal shelters & rescue organizations. Though those serve wonderful purposes, the bags are usually a bit more expensive. So for this review, I was looking at economical bags that gave me the most confidence when taking my pups for a walk. It really came down to 3 vendors: AMAZON BASICS, GORILLA SUPPLY and PET N PET. Some quick similarities. They’re all 9x13 inches, unscented, made in China, and are large enough to pick up even the biggest messes. They all priced in at around 2¢ a bag. All are good. And, all have plenty of fan-favorite reviews (with, of course, a low percentage of complaints). Here’s a quick rundown of each. AMAZON BASICS Largest Qty: 900 bags (15 bags per roll, 60 rolls) Milliliter: 0.59ml Takeaways: Black-colored bags with an included dispenser. Smell is only somewhat apparent after the bag is tied. Having tried this brand last (after buying the others), these bags felt the most substantial. I never had a bag break during a walk. These have quickly become my 1st choice when choosing a doggie bag. GORILLA SUPPLY Largest Qty: 1000 bags (20 bags per roll, 50 rolls) Milliliter: (unknown) Takeaways: Black-colored bags with an included dispenser (blue-colored bags available at a higher price). Smell is only somewhat apparent after the bag is tied. I tried these and they’re great. I only had a few that tore open when pulling them from the dispenser. None of them ever broke during a walk. They feel slightly thinner than Amazon Basics. These are great bags and would be my 2nd choice. PET N PET Largest Qty: 1080 bags (18 bags per roll, 60 rolls) Milliliter: (unknown) Takeaways: Orange-colored bags (additional colors available at a higher price). No dispenser included. Smell is very apparent after the bag is tied. Some definite manufacturing/quality control issues for these somewhat flimsy bags. I probably wouldn’t buy this brand again. OUT! (Honorable mention) Largest Qty: 750 bags (15 bags per roll, 50 rolls) Milliliter: 0.55ml Takeaways: Multi-colored bags with an included dispenser. Smell is only somewhat apparent after the bag is tied. I never had a bag break during a walk. I do like these bags but, there are a few noted differences. They’re a little more expensive (3¢ per bag), an inch shorter in length, and scented. Only because of pricing, these would be my 3rd choice. Just a few other notes. If you’re looking for the absolute lowest cost bag (say you have a dog-walking business), Downtown Pet Supply has some slightly smaller-sized bags and sells them in higher quantities (which gets the price down to around 1.5¢ per bag). And, if the environment is high on your priority list, most of these brands have Earth-friendly options as well. For me, the milliliter/thickness of the bag was the most important factor. None of these bags are thick, mind you. But, the Amazon Basics are the thickest of these brands (something that was noticeable after using the others). And, I’m comfortable with the price when buying the largest quantity. After trying all of these, this is my #1 pick.
