Brass is best at resisting corrosion especially in salt water. Some cheap grades of stainless steel can still rust. With these twist style plugs its best to press your finger on the end of the plug and then turn the T stem until you feel it just begin to catch and tighten against the rubber. Then fit the plug in the drain hole and finish tightening. Remember, brass is softer than steel and it's not necessary to torque the plug down super tight. Over-tightening will strip the threads, rendering the plug useless. Also, I always coat the rubber and brass with Armor all, or better, 303 protectant, to prevent cracking or corrosion

Good quality! Worth the extra dough.

This is a good quality one. I bought one of these for a spare last year and put it into service his year as the OEM part was of low quality and didn’t last. This one is smooth and nice to use. Feels like it’s good quality and like it will last. I bought another for a spare though - in case I drop it in a river of molten lava.

Excellent Product

Excellent Product. Not often you can find a boat plug that you can screw in for the tightness sealing the boat. Most are just flip plugs which are garbage. This is one product that you will not run into with.
