Good enough
As notated in the instructions, you can not have anything on top of this blanket. I use a soft blanket, this blanket then a comforter. This works great. The issue was my 7 lb chihuahua gets hot (which is rare for her) and came out from under the blanket where she typically sleeps and laid on top. I woke up to VERY hot almost burning feet and cold blanket elsewhere. She was laying near my hip. This cut off the heat across the top of me and overheated the foot area. If you have a dog or cat who sleeps on your bed, you should look for a different blanket. I have used a different blanket that did not do this. Besides this issue, it works great so far. Wide temperature and timer range. Soft blanket, tho you can feel the wires. Cords are long, but controller is in middle of cord so you can’t reach them with out sitting up in bed most likely.

BUYER BEWARE!!!!
Did not ship me what was pictured!!!! If you're wanting the controller pictured in the add, FORGET IT!!!!! What you'll get is the NEW controller which is ok, but I like the older model better..... Over all the blanket works well, and is comfortable. Was going to return this because of the miss-advertised controller but have discovered that you can no longer get that controller...

It’s very soft but it’s not warm enough. Even on high, it’s barely tepid. I used to love the Biddeford brand, but this blanket is sorely lacking in heat.

Best electric blanket? Yes!
I very picky about electric blankets because I live in a cold climate. I've purchased quite a few electric blankets at this point, and this is the only one I love and have purchased 3 of. There are so many other blankets that are cheaper, but they don't get very warm, or they take forever to heat up. This one is no joke, it will heat you up in not time! I use mine more like a mattress pad, in that I place it below the fitted sheet (with the cords connected at the bottom of the bed) so that it stays in place the entire night. Pros: - It has two temperature controls for each side of the bed so that you are your bed partner can pick separate temperature (with the queen size). - This blanket heats up fast! It starts to feel very warm after just a few minutes. - The cords are super long, you can have the plug attached at the bottom of the bed, and length is still long enough to have the controller by your head - The highest heat setting is pretty hot, so you can use it to warm the bed up, and the turn it down to sleep at night with. - It has an auto-off feature. - You can machine wash it by disconnecting the cords - The blanket material is pretty soft (although I have it under my sheets so I don't come in contact with it very often). Cons - This is seriously the only con, and I'm being nitpicky. The buttons on the controller are kind of loud, so they could wake up your bed partner. Also you can't press and hold the buttons to go up or down, so you have to click it for each change which does make quite a bit of noise.

So far it's okay, but I'm proceeding with caution
There are good points and bad points about this heated blanket. First, I love the softness of both sides of the blanket. I found that I only have to set it on the mid-range (5) to pre-warm it for 15 minutes before I get into bed, and I can either turn the blanket down to 2 or off and I'm fine. In fact I have found that the Sherpa is a very warm, lightweight blanket without the power turned on. Prior to purchase, I read reviews that said they left the blank pre-heat for a long time and it never got warm. Well, it doesn't feel warm to the touch, but just get under it and you will find that it is very cozy. The control unit is very lightweight and you have to hold it with one hand to change the setting. I solved that problem by permanently affixing it to the center of my headboard with just a 1" strip of Velcro. The unit is always at the same spot, and I can just lie in bed and touch the control with one finger to change the setting. The cover is a little "puckery" both along the edges and even over the top, so if you plan to use it without a cover over it, you might be disappointed. My biggest concern is that I have read several very bad reviews on another website that were consistent in describing two issues: One is that the heating unit (where the electrical cord attaches to the blanket) gets too hot and the plastic melts (they showed photos so it's real) and the other is a terrible lack of response from Beddeford on these warranty issues. I haven't experienced this yet, but I've only had the blanket for a month, and I don't leave the blanket on all night. If I had read these reviews before ordering, I would not have ordered, so I suggest that you do a search in your browser to find other reviews and decide for yourself.

Fabulous Customer Service
I called Biddeford because I wasn't sure that a queen size blanket I'd bought through Amazon was working as it should. We have a king Biddeford blanket that seems to heat better than the queen one I just bought. I was immediately told to send the blanket back to them (and they'd provide a shipping label) and they would rework it or replace it. No questions asked. WOW! The oh-so-nice customer service person said that the two blankets should provide equal levels of heat and, if that wasn't the case, they would repair or replace the blanket that wasn't doing as well. I will recommend Biddeford not only for the quality of their product but also for their outstanding customer service.

Great blanket
It earned a four star because it doesn’t keep a great shape on the bed. You can also feel the wire very well when laying on top of the blanket. It is also not really wide enough to go across the bed with some hangover on the sides…fairly narrow for a king size. Heats very well and has kept its softness through two washings.
