It's a magnet with a handle

I haven't had it long enough to see how durable it is. I had a cheap no-name-brand magnet before where the telescopic arm broke. I'm hoping this one works better.

Works Well

The batteries provided were old and should not be placed in the tool so needed replaced. I bought new batteries and the tool works very well as designed. Just assume you will need to purchase batteries. There is also a plastic battery chamber you need to place the new batteries into for the LED light to work. Positive side up. The battery install instructions don't show this and are not useful. I figured it out by trial and error. I would have rated it 3 star if the LED light didn't work well but it is great. A good product but Craftsman needs to address the obvious shortcomings.
