This a little tiny channellock.

If you've never had one and find yourself needing a small wrench type thing - don't hesitate to grab this. I do a lot of projects that require adhesive at home. Sometimes I need to tear things with adhesive apart to work things. This is like having super human grip strength when grabbing small things. Also, it will aid with smaller nuts and bolts. I had one for about 20 years, and still have that one. I bought another one because I kept running into situations where I needed to hold two parts of things when tearing them apart, or with locking (dual) nuts.

I purchased to replace a tool that went MIA, had to have replacment. Chanel lock best there is.

Could be better.

The fit and finish on US made Channellock pliers has gone too far downhill to justify the premium price. I had to do a lot of finish work to make these halfway as nice as the 30 year old pair they were bought to replace.

Compact ChannelLock Pliers

Cool little pliers you can tote around in your pocket, they're basically my every day carry, along with my pocket knife.

NOT THE CHANNELLOCK THAT I ONCE KNEW

I have always insisted on Channellock for all my plier needs. I have a whole set of Channellock pliers, some that are 50 years old and still going strong. These pliers have been all over the planet spending decades working in the the harsh offshore environment but you would not know it by looking at them. I received these miniature slip-joint pliers today and I have to tell you, I was really disappointed. Right away, I noticed that they are very difficult to slip from one jaw setting to another. I thought maybe it was just that they were new? Well, after closer inspection, I found flashing in many areas of these pliers that not only caused the plier's operation to be difficult but there was unsightly flashing in other areas as well. I took some diamond files to them and cleaned them up pretty well. They work fine now and they also look ok although there are some voids in the steel from a shoddy pour of the steel. Then, I noticed that the jaws don't line-up correctly and the grind around the sides of the two pieces was done haphazardly. i hate to be a whiner but again, these are not what I expected form Channellock.

Overpriced by quality.

I initially found a pair of "Channel Lock 424" pliers in a bag of miscellaneous items at a local "Value Village". Over a period of two years they proved to be so useful that I decided to search "Amazon" to see if they were still available since none of the local hardware stores carried them. I found them here but was sadly disappointed in the quality. The new pliers were slightly larger in most dimensions, the metal was unfinished, the jaws don't line up very well and there are only three channels as opposed to four on the original "424's". I will still find a use for them but compared to the high quality, precision assembled polished steel of the original tool, which inspired my purchase, these new "424's" are not a tool I worry about losing.

Nice product, but these are more of a toy ...

As with all Channellock Tongue and Groove pliers, these are well-made and high quality. The 4.5 inch size however is comically small, and "regular" pliers would do almost any job these would do. Nice product, but these are more of a toy unless you specifically need this size.
