Sizes may vary

I love Columbias products but the variations in sizing is a bit annoying. I have 2 pairs of Columbia UV pants one in a 10 and the other a 12, both a little loose on me. I ordered 3 pairs of Columbia shorts all in 10’s and could only button one of them. Would be happy if the sizes were the same no matter if it was pants or shorts but otherwise the stitching and overall craftsmanship was quite nice.

3 stars due to the strange cut

I generally like Columbia and wear a 4 or 6 depending on the style. I got these is a 4, and they are definitely too small. But, going to a 6 would not solve the bigger issue, which is how they are cut, like they should fasten "below" the waste, but they don't. Basically, this turned them into a thong.... not good. Not comfortable. Not attractive. I am 5'3 110lb, so I'm not a big person. Even on my small frame, they just look all kinds of wrong. The tag says "active" fit, so maybe this is something to get away from for me. The Amazon description doesn't say "active fit" but maybe I will go to the Columbia site to check others before I buy them. The material is good, and the pockets are just right, giving you some extra storage options without looking bulky. They are going back, unfortunately.

Sizing is way off

I normally wear a size 4 Petite, but I ordered these in a 6 so they'd be a bit loose for hiking. They barely fit out of the package and then shrank at least a size after washing, so now I can't wear them at all. They are nicely made, but if you buy them, be sure to get two sizes larger than normal. For me, these will go to charity.

Almost a hit

I ordered to different colors in these shorts. The elk were a bit looser than the grill, but both were too tight across the tummy area, but a great fit through the waist and hips. Strange to have the mid part tighter than the waist. I bought a size 8 - also tried a 10, but they were huge.

Run small but is so comfy

Underwhelmed

The adjustable elastic in the waist to cinch in for a better fit was awesome. The pocket situation is not awesome. I have other Columbia shorts I prefer more.

Nice shorts, but they run VERY small in the waist. Fits closer to a 6-8 (listed as a size 10).

I love columbia because of the quality of the garmet but in this instance they really do run small. Size up for sure. I will keep them and hope I lose 10 pds or i will give them away.

bought two pairs of these in the grill and nocturnal, size 2. I am normally a 0 or a 2 and these fit perfectly. Love the light fabric and the pockets make them perfect for work.
