Must try it

I didn't realize for so many years how much nicer my makeup will look if I use primer. And I also believed that I needed to spend a lot of money on primer for it to work well and put off buying this primer even though I heard so many good things about it. When I finally gave it a try I was so pleasantly surprised by how well it worked and how wonderful it made my skin look. Your makeup looks flawless and stays on all day and the price is so much nicer than all the other primers in my collection. I will repurchase this and if you haven't tried this or if you're discriminating because it's a drugstore item I guarantee you won't be disappointed. It's honestly one of the few Elf product that I've been happy with other than some of their brushes but on this one they knocked it out of the park.

lovely cosmetic use

Purchased this as a base to make up routine. Spreads well and there is no scent that I can tell. It "fills in" problem areas and the make up adheres well to it.

Would buy for eternity

I love how it makes my face matte without making it dry. I use this to help reduce shine on my face even on top of sunscreen.

Not good for mature skin

I would say it’s a good product but not the best. I’m only giving it 3 stars because matte primer is no good for mature skin. I thought it would help with my oily areas around my nose but it didn’t. This will probably be great for younger skin but not the best.

My makeup stays all day!

Just used this for the first time this weekend. I put this on early morning under my foundation and had a LONG hard day at work. Several times I was sweating and running around like crazy, but my makeup still looked good 12 hours later. It looked a lot better than I felt. I used the matte formula and love it. I never write reviews, but this was worth it!

This new obsession with primer...

Honestly I've tried several different primers since hearing about them a few years ago. Still don't understand what all the fuss is about. I've been wearing makeup since age 14 and I'm now 70, so I've seen some fads and fashions come and go. All the primers seem to do for me is fill in my pores, which can just as easily be done with the foundation itself simply by doing a light first layer in areas where I have visible pores, and then building a second layer wherever needed. None of the primers I have tried have made my makeup stay on any longer, and this particular one actually makes it melt off sooner. I guess maybe if you need only a pore filler followed by powder, this might work okay for that. But that's what BB cream is for, right. Honestly, I kinda think primers are just another product being marketed to us to boost profits. The best way I've found to improve wear time of foundation is setting powder. I can choose matte powder for daytime and a more shimmery one for night. Some have a little pink color in them so that's a pretty option too. Also, I've been experimenting with setting sprays, which work similarly to setting powder. I do think the setting sprays improve wear time of foundation, especially if I use two very light passes instead if one heavier application. I put on all my makeup except mascara, then setting spray, and finish with two coats of waterproof mascara. And carry a beautiful powder compact for touch-ups!

No, Internet. It doesn't NOT work.

Dear me. Where do I begin? Who on earth is this marketed to? Persons with already smooth, perfect, matte, non-congested skin? Because those with the skin concerns it claims to address, are precisely those who are wasting their time buying it. My word, there is much hype over this abysmal product; so I gave in a bought it. With immediate concerns; Starting with the unhygienic presentation - you're starting off on the wrong foot already if you are sticking brushes or fingers straight into a product...if you have problem skin, this is a sure way to introduce bacteria... But, I digress; this primer literally does nothing. Well, it does do something - mainly sliding straight off, seconds after application, ultimately taking your foundation and concealer with it. Oh, and it also clogs up pores, fine lines, blemishes etc and MAGNIFIES them NICE AND BIG AND TEXTURED, YEAH! And also does sweet, sweet FA in terms of mattifing. I don't think I've tried a worse primer. And I've tried some shockers, I tell you.

It’s a no from me!

I saw the hype, I tried, I was disappointed. If anything this enhances the pores on my nose and makes my make up slip of my face. It makes it much harder to blend my make up using this as a primer and I was very disappointed. I have very oily porous skin and did lots of research prior to buying this.

love the look it gives but my skin doesnt

been using this for a few days, i usually use the original putty primer but I'm oily/combination and needed something more mattifying to last longer days. i love the look of this under my makeup (using colorstay foundation & airspun powder) its smoothed and when i went to take my makeup off 14 hours later it still looked great, no separation and only just beginning to let oils through with no touch ups throughout the day. i have noticed i have broken out a little in areas of my face in i don't usually like the bridge of my nose. This is the only product different in my routine and i'm bummed my skin doesnt like it, but it may end up being a special occasion primer for me. i cant give it a bad rating because of my skin. i'd recommend if youre used to the original version but want something more matte

An ok primer

My wife has tried this for the last month. She was unsure whether it was any good and so has persevered with it. In the hot weather, she’s found it hasn’t really helped her make up to stay on her face. It’s nice to apply and feels ok but not sure on the overall effect.

Not great for dry skin

I heard fab reviews for this primer so I gave it a go! I haven't had the great results I heard from everyone else though... It left my foundation on my nose looking a little funny and felt almost like a film covering my face when I put it on?? Strange, but I guess it isn't for my skin type!
