Easy to install
I used this outlet behind a new LED lighted vanity mirror

Great for wall mounted TV
I replaced the outlet behind our wall mounted TV. The swap was very quick and easy. It makes it much easier to unplug the set if I need to and also alleviates the bend on the power cord versus a regular flush outlet.

Great quality, tight fit in normal box, screws can be short
Overall I am happy with this product. Neither Home Depot nor Lowe's carry recessed power outlets with tamper resistance (Aug 2013), so I ordered this one as tamper resistance is needed for child protection and newer buildings' electrical code. It can be fit into a standard size box, so that you won't have to replace the entire box. However, as this outlet sits deeper obviously, you might have to be a little creative making it fit if you have any other wiring in the box, apart from the power outlet itself. I had to go buy replacement screws as the ones that come with it are 3/4" length (#6-32) and this was too short for my application. I would not be surprised if this is a common issue. It depends solely on how deep your box is mounted with respect to the drywall surface. Mine was about 1/4-1/2" deeper than the drywall surface. The replacement screws I bought were #6-32 in length 1.5", which was perfect, but you won't get those screws with a nicely fitting white head as the original ones. So I resorted to painting the heads with a little bit of white ceiling paint I was using for a different project. Now it looks good, too.

It's similar to the Leviton recessed outlet
I wasn't sure whether to get this or the nearly-identical Leviton product Leviton 689-W 15 Amp 1-Gang Recessed Duplex Receptacle, Residential Grade, with Screws Mounted to Housing, White So I bought and installed both (2 locations). This (Cooper) product's bezel is 3mm wider and higher, which might be useful if you needed to cover holes or rough spots in the wall, but I liked the Leviton appearance (smaller bezel). It is also tamper resistant, which the Leviton is not, if that matters to you. Thy are exactly the same depth (both degree of recessed plug and depth of the back of the item). The only other difference is the finish: the Cooper is glossy and the Leviton is more matte. I found them both easy to instal, but you'll need a fairly deep electrical box--probably a 2" deep box for it to work. They will also both require a dedicated ground wire--there are no metal "ears" to automatically ground to a metal box if that's what you have. I needed to add a new green wire to the back of this outlet and attach to the back of the metal box to ground it properly.

It's an outlet!
Well, after I FINALLY got this thing in, I can definitely say, it's an electrical outlet! I wouldn't purchase it again for retroactive installations unless I absolutely needed recessed outlets. I can't speak for how difficult it is to install while you can get to the wires behind drywall, if you're installing it in an existing box surrounded by finished wall that you really don't want to tear down, it can kind of be a pain if there is too much wiring in the box. I had to shorten my wires by almost two inches apiece to make room for it, I also had to cut out the nails holding the box to the stud, and replace them with screws so they wouldn't span the width of the box. All in all though, I'm very happy with the result. The 'wall' is much flatter now, I can get the couch up against it without dropping so many things behind it.

Does what it is designed to do - just wish the plastic was a bit more substantial
This does what it is supposed to. I just wish the plastic was a bit heavier duty. Leviton makes a similar part that has plastic which feels a bit more substantial. When I tightened down on the screw terminals for the wiring it started to feel like the outlet wanted to pop loose from the outlet cover. Nothing broke, but it's that type of plastic that feels like it will crack if over-tightened (which is why I always buy unbreakable nylon wall-plates). On the other hand, I've read that in some cases new work requires tamper proof outlets (although depending on the height where this is installed it may not be subject to that requirement - do your homework first), and the Leviton equivalent I've seen is not tamper proof.

Exactly what's needed for low profile TV or appliance mounting and installation.
I've used 2 of these now, let me get the negative out of the way first. The outlet being recessed is fairly difficult to fit into a standard depth single gang box. If you've got wire caps, and more than 1 set of 12awg romex in the box, forget it. Also since it's tamper resistant it's difficult at times to plug stuff into it, especially if it's behind your TV. I've seen this to be a common problem with TR outlets. That being said, if you have a deep box, and can get your cords in perfectly straight you'll have no problems. This outlet worked perfectly behind my TV, and my refrigerator, allowing them to be nice and flush to the wall.

Works fine for tight areas
I was concerned that the recess would pose a problem with the wiring behind the outlet but there is enough clearance. This made a huge difference in our refrigerator which didn't go back all the way and left an inch of exposed side. This was caused by the thickness of the plug. FYI, when prepping for a kitchen remodel, have the water and electrical mounted in recessed boxes or slightly above the refrigerator. This should be hidden by the cabinet valance. Modern appliances maximize the sizes which leave very little clearance if the connections are not well thought out. I'm hoping my kitchen installers are reading this!!:)
