While this does give a nice, well diffused light, installing it can be a bit of a PITA. The supplied mounting bracket will only work with a regular square or round ceiling box, and allows no room for adjustment to pull the lamp tight to the ceiling. I purchased this to replace the globe style lamp over my kitchen sink that I like to leave on in the evenings as a night light. The light bothered my wife though, sleeping in the master bedroom just off the kitchen with the door partially open for the cats to pass through. I got this hoping that its flatter style would eliminate the glare into the bedroom. It didn't eliminate it, but it did reduce it a little. Unfortunately, this is MUCH brighter than the CFL it replaced, so while it eliminated the direct glare it increased the overall brightness. I'll have to install a dimmer and dial it down some. That's provided I actually keep it and don't replace it with something different, because the fit on this leaves a lot to be desired. The box the old light was installed on was a rectangular switch box type, not a round or square box, and a bit wobbly. While I could get the mounting bracket to mount to the box (with different screws than what they provide), the bracket always ended up sitting crooked and not holding the unit tight to the ceiling. In the end I decided to simply replace the box with a new one, mounted better. I didn't have any round or square remodel boxes left in my supplies (I'm a retired general contractor), but I did have a better quality old work box than what was in there, so I used that and got the box properly mounted with no wobbles. That still didn't help though. No matter how I tried I could not get this unit to sit flush with the ceiling. There's a gap, about 1/8" wide, between it and the sheetrock, and light from the unit shines out through there, making it very noticeable. I suppose I'll have to swap that box out too, and try a square or round ceiling box to see if that helps but, honestly, this is a really crappy mounting system they came up with, and allows for almost no adjustment for any kind of flaws in the mounting surface. Any irregularity at all and you'll get light shining from the gaps. They really need to add some foam or other soft material to the rim of the light, to allow it to seal better and stop those light leaks.

Nice ugrade to LED
Very nice LED replacement for an incandescent ceiling light, especially where a recessed light can not be installed. The slim profile makes the light look very much like a recessed light. The light is nice and bright, perfect for a hallway. Worked fine out of the box and no problems since installing. Installation is easy if you have basic mechanical and electrical skills and knowledge. Like all electrical items, if you aren't experienced, you'd be best to find someone who is to install. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is due to the mounting bracket design. It is a simple to install and use push and twist design but it doesn't allow for any adjustment to snug up to the ceiling, it is dependent on the junction box being perfectly flush with the ceiling. Perhaps some type of mounting spring would work better and it would be a 5 star product.

Just went in and it give good light in a relatively low profile. Two things keep my star count down on this: installation was a serious pain, and the dome shape just seems cheap or outdated looking somehow. That said, I've ordered a second for our laundry room where style doesn't matter much. On installation, I hope this helps: You will need a securely mounted full sized round box for installation. The unit has a fairly deep bracket and the light twists into this bracket. Unless the box can't rotate at all, installation is hard. Also, I ended up using longer screws than those that came with the unit because I simply couldn't get light to lock into the bracket without a bit more clearance. So, a good unit but with some install issues.

Nice light fixture.
My customer likes these for the purpose they serve. However, the mounting brackets were very snug. Ordinarily this would be fine. I installed them around the exterior of a building on the soffit for dusk to dawn operation. While installing they kept pushing the soffit in trying mount to their bracket. I was able to modify.

New bracket makes it a 5 star review
Other reviewers have complained about the bracket design. I believe that the design has changed, for the better. The actual bracket looks different from that in the instructions adding to my impression that the design has changed. This new bracket has legs that touch the ceiling and could accommodate a box that is recessed into the ceiling or projecting out from the ceiling maybe 3/8". The result was flush with the ceiling and looks great. The light was brighter than the 60 watt incandescent bulb that was being replaced. I am very happy with this purchase. I have included a picture of this new bracket.

While these lights are bright and they are visually appealing, the casing did not allow for the wires to be pushed into it such that the light would mount flush to the ceiling. We were hoping these would work on a ceiling where we could not put recessed lights; however, the casing is too shallow to accommodate the wiring and mount flush to the ceiling.

incorrect parts
the mounting bracket provided in the kit didn't match the one shown in the instructions. The result was that I had to "invent" a couple of parts to space the mounting plate far enough from the outlet box that I could attach the fixture to the mounting plate. What a pain!

Look great easy to install
I installed three of these lights in my second floor hallway. One replaced an old, out of date, lamp fixture and the other two were put in new locations. They were very easy to install. Been using them for almost one year and absolutely no issues. They look great and give out plenty of soft light. The specs don't say but I would guess a 3000k light
