Fixed the issue with my oven

My oven was preheating when we turned it on even though the igniter was getting hot. I replace the original igniter with this and it fixed the issue. The only thing I would recommend is to save the original one until you have this one installed in case the mount does not fit. That is the reason why I gave it four stars as the it is supposed to be a direct replacement but i did have to swap the mounting bracket.

Works for me. Took about 1 hour to replace, including moving out oven and putting back onto place.

The top oven of our double oven would not go above 100 degrees. I researched this and found that it was likely the bake igniter. I watched some youtube videos to learn how to replace it and decided to go ahead and try. It was as straight forward as I had expected. The most difficult thing for me to replace this part, for my oven (Kenmore model #790.78013002), was that it took some effort to pull the existing igniter out after removing the 2 screws that were holding it in place. This is because a) it required that I take off the back panel to undo the connection. b) Once I had the panel off and located the connection and disconnected it, it took a bit of effort to pull the wire out from inside the oven. There was some insulation in the way that I had to move over. c) i had to push the connector from the new igniter, through the back of the oven so I could connect it. Once it was connected, putting all screws back in place was easy. This new part solved the problem that I was having and now will heat up again.

Fit Kenmore Elite Perfectly

I have bought cheaper versions that needed special installation. This one required no modification to shield nor wiring. Connector fit perfectly.

Absolutely perfect match!

The wires to the coupling must be cut and spliced back together. The opening in the oven chamber is not large enough for the coupling to pass through. There is a youtube video to assist with this process. Real simple but requires butt couplings or wire nuts.

Easy fix for Kenmore Elite

Easy replacement for my Kenmore Elite double oven. I didn’t have to cut any wires, simple plug!

It works

The unit works just fine although I was expecting one that looked just like the picture... with a connector. It came with just bare wires and wire nuts. I cut the old ones wires above the connector so I could keep it just in case I had to replace it again with one that did have the connector on it.
