Excellent Product!

I bought this to replace an unsupported product from Better Home Products in SF, Ca. I was able to reuse the existing key. The product was easy to install and operates perfectly. I am in the process of replacing ALL the BHP door products in my home with Kwikset. (7 outside doors)

Nice looking with a flaw

I needed a kwikset smart key lock and handle set since I needed to re-key 4 doors to the same key. Anyway, this is the one that met most of the needs/wants I had on my list. The flaw (in my opinion) is the bottom screw on the exterior handle. It's just a screw on the outside. It's a very poor design aspect. I'm sure they saved a whole 7¢ by just putting a screw hole instead of making it a hidden screw. I can't fathom a well-known company making such a dumb design mistake. Due to my prior door handle being 20 years old and a non-standard size the old screw hole didn't match up. This is also annoying but that's not the fault of kwikset. Overall its fine. If the exterior screw situation doesn't bother you then you'll probably like it as its easy to install.

Easy install with smart keys

Easy to install as a replacement of similar handle with improved inside handle and great help by phone to keep the old keys. Beautiful and value for the money.

Perfectly the same as the one I replaced from 2004! An exact match

We installed this door set on our front door in late 2003, and used it daily for almost 20 years until we actually wore out the springs in the old handle. I was shocked to find the same kit still on sale, and popped it right in about 10 minutes of work. I look forward to the next 20 years! Price had gone up a bit though, as you might imagine. Reliable Kwikset!

Excellent product--Lousy assembly instructions

Its a sturdy and very good looking handleset. On the pkg.it shows a left opening door, but says you can reverse the handle for a Rt. opening door. I thought they meant you can just turn the inside lever upside down. But they actually included a second inside lever, which was a great feature. However, the printed instructions were almost useless, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. There were no printed guidelines for how the internal support parts fit together, ie. which direction and in what sequence, just real lousy illustrations. If you've never installed this type of handle set before, these instructions would be almost useless.

not the revised door cylinder. made in 2010.

Was easy to install if you buy the single entry door set and work on those first. Did not receive 5 stars because the locks were made in 2010 (according to the box). This is well before the revisions were made. So someone could force break these locks. It looks good on my door, but I had to switch out the tumbler for one that came with my kwikset 991 since it was a higher grade and was a revision since the kwikset 991 was made in 2017.

Box opened and product had obviously used for some time

Packaging for first shipment had been open before and product was obviously used as it was worn and stained so we returned for replacement. Second shipment was better but again box had been opened. Handleset was is new condition and has recently been installed with no issues. We are belatedly satisfied with the second unit.
