Very flimsy made of Aluminum. If you need it to be stiff buy the stainless steel one.

Don't over expect.

For the current price it will fill my need, but compared to older, American made yard stick this made in China rule is made from soft, thin aluminum bends easily and is printed only on one side. Wouldn't buy it again.

For the price you can't beat the quality.

This yardstick is a great buy. It's flexible aluminum, which allows you to measure over slightly curved areas. Also, because it is constructed out of aluminum you don't have to worry about warping (like wooden yardsticks) or rusting/oxidizing (like steel yardsticks). Another nice feature is that it has no metric on it. Since metric has little use here in America, centimeters just tend to get in the way, and you always have to make sure you're using the right side on US/metric combo yardsticks - but this one doesn't have that problem. It is graduated in 1/8 inch on one side and 1/16 inch on the other - very handy. The one thing they could do to improve would be to actually have the numbers and graduation marks impressed into the metal rather than just painted-on. While the paint may be durable, it's always a nice feature to have the markings set deeper than the surface.

Made in China

Johnson level is a company that touts the fact that they are based in Mequon, Wisconsin and apparently some of their product line is made in the United States. This rule is made in China. While I can appreciate that some of the money stays here through the location of the corporate office, most of it ended up in Asia. Sure it's only a few dollars, but dollars add up to many more dollars. I have to question the accuracy of the rule as well knowing it was made offshore, but without have a good Starett rule I have nothing to benchmark it against. While it is rather thin, this will indeed do the job for simple measurement, and perhaps serve some purpose as a straight edge. But, if you're looking for something made in America, this isn't the rule you're looking for, move along.

Aluminum Yardstick

If you have a need for a yard stick, then this will most probably fit the bill. I considered it was priced right and shipped tightly in a heavy cardboard tube, so it arrived in perfect condition.I have bought other Johnson products and have found them to be satisfactory. I can find no more words about a yardstick, except it appears to be 36", have not checked.
