wonderful clock with only one flaw

this clock is big and bright. i have no trouble seeing it in daylight or the dark due to the three brightness options; low is almost no backlight med is bright and the setting i normally use and high which is very bright. i plugged it in followed the instructions and it synced right up to the atomic clock within 5 minutes. i have the clock set to day and date time and indoor temperature but there are two other settings one for seconds and the other calander display. the clock is easy to set up and easy to see, the only drawback is that you cannot read it from above or below only straight on. i wanted a clock that was big backlit and atomic so i got exactly what i wanted. keeps perfect time and after initial setup i don’t have to touch it again unless i want to change the display or set an alarm. i love this clock. there’s another one exactly like it here on amazon but without the backlight. very pleased with purchase.

Perfect for my mother. Easy to read, nice looking. Simple. My only complaint is it didn't come with the electric cord which is one of the reasons I purchased it. Any suggestion??? How can I get the cord???

El producto es mejor de lo que se aprecia en las fotos. Tamaño ideal para colgar en la pared o poner sobre una mesa. Color tipo madera que le da un toque elegante. Letras de tamaño ideal para personas con capacidad de visión algo limitada. Fácil de configurar. Lo único que podría resultar negativo, es que la retroiluminación solo se activa al presionar un botón y no puede dejarse fija, lo cual sería útil para personas de la tercera edad.

Great in every way

I needed a clock I could see from across my den and that had day and date. It also needed a constant backlight so I could see it day and night. Searched a lot of makes and models, realized the backlight in all the clocks is constant ONLY if it is powered by an AC cord. If it is powered only by batteries, or if you only use batteries on a clock that can be powered by both, then the backlight will only light up if you hit the snooze button, and then only for about 5 seconds. Since it was going to be across the room and an alarm wasn't needed, I narrowed my search to power cord models only. This La Crosse Technology 513-1419BL-WAL-INT is exactly what I needed. It also gives you a choice between a field showing seconds, or room temp (C or F). The WAL in the mdl# means the front face is a walnut tone, the BL refers to the black trim around the walnut face. There is another similar model with a slightly different mdl# that is battery only, so be sure you're ordering what you need. My clock came timely and in excellent condition. Very easy to set up, The backlight is a pastel blue and the digits are very distinct and very easy to read from 15 feet, even from my kitchen. It also has a wide view area so you can see it from angles. Mine is on a high fireplace mantel and I have no problem with the angle. You can hang it on a wall but you will need the AC power cord if you want it to constantly light. It also has a built-in stand you can flip out to set on a desk or other flat surface. This simple little clock is the best buy I've made in a long time. Highly recommended!!

Does what it needs to do after getting the signal

Ordered this earlier this year in the spring as I was looking for a new centerpiece clock for my room. Decided on this one because the face is large and bright enough to read even without my lenses, as well as matching my wood furniture. It did struggle to find the radio signal the first week just by keeping it inside, but once I took it out to the balcony for a few minutes, it caught it and managed to keep it after 5 months of use. It hasn’t dropped the signal again nor has it become any less accurate. I recommend getting it, but wait for a sale if you can.

Works just as described & can be seen clearly from across the room

I originally ordered this for the bedroom. I wanted a simple alarm clock, one that did not confuse us with two alarms and with music versus buzzer. We decided to use it in the living room instead, and have it near the tv. It makes it so much easier to see what time it is , from both the living room and the kitchen that is open to the living room. Always being able to double check the day and date is helpful , even for those of us who have not begun to show signs of dementia. We are retired and it is easy for us to just forget what the date is. Nice not having to look on the computer. I don't know if the atomic clock setting works. We set the clock manually using the time on our computer and it seems to be right on. I think maybe some have had problems because they plugged it in, did not set it, and then figured it would just set itself. Maybe it does, but the directions says it could take a couple days, so why wait? I put in the batteries, set it, then plugged it in. We prefer it plugged in, to save the batteries for when the power goes out. When plugged it is very well back lite which makes it really easy to see. When running on batteries only it was not back lite. Would still be better than other non-lite clocks, but we like it lit up at night in the dark. As always, be sure to read the directions first. They are well written in understandable English. While it is easy to set, it does not surprise me that sometimes people get a bit confused trying to set it. We have a somewhat similar battery operated clock in the bathroom, so we were familiar with the steps. There is also a web site listed on the directions and likely that might help some that are having problems. Will be buying another one for the bedroom.

Did not keep accurate time

Was not easy to see the display if you were at a slight angle to the screen. Also, it did not change to the correct time when daylight saving time ended (let it sit untouched for two days - no change). The am/pm indicators were too similar and my wife couldn't determine which it was indicating (the 'A' and 'P' were too similar - the 'P' was the 'A' missing the 'leg', so it couldn't be recognized by a person with not-perfect vision). She's an invalid, and was unable to determine whether 2:00 was AM or PM as she was in a very dark room so couldn't see the light outside to understand it was afternoon or middle of the night (early morning). Had to return it and got a refund.

Very nice and large display but requires manual intervention of night light. Two-pin plug requires uk adapter or replacement.

Easy to see and very functional !

This is a great clock ! I purchased it for an elderly lady who could never remember what day it was . And always wanted to know what time it was . It's very easy for her to see and understand . Some other models had too much information on them , therefore too confusing for someone suffering from dementia . And the woodgrain look is also very nice . She loves it !
