Very good brass polish
This item is used for cleaning used ammo casings. There must be an additive in the nut shells. The first time i used this in my cleaner the brass came out much shiner that the previous product I used. I even put a polishing chemical and it did not shine like this product created without adding anything. I will continue to use this product.

It's different but still good
I've been using this media for years. This time when I opened the box I noticed it wasn't the right color. After reading the reviews I thought oh no. It's gonna suck. But I tried it anyway and honestly it seems to be just about as good as its always been. Maybe slight duller. Not enough to make me want to use something else. One really good difference in the new formula is smaller ground walnut which makes it easier to remove from the flash hole. I don't see why it's getting all the bad reviews. Sounds to me like peoeple just don't like change. I added a pic of my brass after using it. You decide for yourself.

Works really well
I finally saw this stuff go down in price so I jumped on it. I had heard that people really like how well walnut works vs corncob and I am definitely using this from now now. Bass comes out looked pretty much brand new.

Exactly what it is supposed to be
Exactly what it is supposed to be. This product is walnut shell media embedded with jewelers rouge (iron oxide). It shines brass cartridge cases to a brilliant shine. A lot of reviews complain about the dust and residue. Used dryer sheets can be added to the tumbler bowl to catch dust and residue (which is toxic if you are tumbling fired ammo brass). Paper towels can be used too. I use the dryer sheets whole so there are less pieces to dispose of. Another tip: mix this product with your untreated corn cob and walnut media. It makes them work much better! Leave the residue in the bowl for the next run. You paid for that red residue - it is the unique ingredient! I have several bowls for my vibratory tumbler, so I always have a clean one. You do not need to buy this product often. In fact I recommend that you mix it with untreated media which will then last several tumbling cycles before you need a new batch.

Good media, but no bucket
Got this yesterday and already ran a couple loads. Works good for polishing and the prices is nice, but was hoping for a bucket which never showed up. Oh well, not a big issue to me. Just an FYI in case it matters to you.

Works well
With a capful of Flitz metal polish mixed in a load od this media, it provides clean and polished brass for reloading. Although some media is small enough to get stuck in primer hole, this is ejected when de3priming and resizing the case.

NOT the Red Stuff
If you think you're getting the old Red media, think twice. The red media used to work fantastic but it seems that Lyman has discontinued making that and this is the replacement. It works well, but not nearly as good, but allot better than the plain untreated walnut. good product, but I sure wish they'd bring back the red stuff.

A must have for reloading ammo!
After letting my brass tumble for 3 hours it was ready to prep without getting my reloading dies dirty. After the second tumble with the Lyman Walnut media my brass looked liked brand new and the primer pockets were clean and all the case lube was gone. I am going to order a larger container on my next order to make sure I have this on hand at all times. Great product!

Good product, as advertised
Bought this media to clean my 308, 556, 30-06, and 45acp brass. Worked great, especially with the addition of a polishing agent. Left no film and was, easy to sift out of the brass.

This stuff has a red dye that is really annoying to get off aluminium- wouldn't recommend

what happened to the old product?
I have used lymans crushed walnut treated with jewelers rouge for years...that stuff was amazing....recently it disappeared from the market and its been replaced with this inferior product...its still advertised as treated with rouge but not only has the distinct red color been replaced by a brownish hue...its also less effective
