Great Tools - Last Fairly Well

This is my second set. I’ve used the first for years. But, there is a weak point, made for failure, as they age. The curved section under the punch is fairly strong, but it ages with stress, along with exposure to the rays of the sun and the heat. It simply gave way while punching a hole. The cutter knife will likely work forever. So, now I have two of those. The first punch lasted a satisfactory time. But that curve under the punch is too weak to last “ lifetime”. To punch the hole sometimes, you very slightly have to twist it back and forth. That’s too much stress no matter how careful.

Powerful tools with a purposeful design!

When I first opened the product, my elation was palpable. The box, the tape, the packaging materials, the smell of the cardboard; it was all nearly too much to handle. Thankfully, when I got my hands on the Orbit Drip Tubing Cutter and Punch Tool after a brief refractory period, I was not disappointed. The product appears to be well constructed, with its intention and usage application quite obvious once introduced to a section of irrigation drip poly tubing. My 1/2 inch tube was easily snipped with the cutter, and easily punctured with the punch tool. I recommend this product to anyone looking to maintain their drip system, whether expansive or not. Orbit seems to have a pretty good understanding of such systems, and even manufactures other sprinkler and irrigation-related products you might enjoy. One in particular that I purchased and will review separately is the B-Hyve water controller with Wi-Fi and Alexa integration. What a cool device that is! I could go on and on, but I'll refrain. My only gripe is that the color is a muted red and not a brighter, flashier and more stylish hue. Perhaps a selection of colors like blue, cream, and jaundice yellow could be produced down the road.

Decent

Decent cutter. Make sure you stow it with the blade closed... Damn thing took a chunk of my fingerprint with it but no long term damage done. My own fault for throwing it in the toolbox as I did. Hole punch works alright, but the plastic tubing can't be too warm... If so it just bends out of the way of the punch and doesn't complete the hole. Not a fault of the tool but something to consider nonetheless.

Okay so for years I’ve used the push punches, and I never thought this was necessary for waterlines but this is by far my new favorite tool when it comes to watering lines (black tubing) I use to strain making a hole and the pipe would collapse and I would have to back it up with my hand.. now that’s a thing of the past. These tools make it a delight to work with watering lines and it’s easier on your hands and body. I highly recommend them.. yes they are made of plastic but for the money they are priced right.. would love to find some aluminum ones..

Broke after little usage

I have had no issue with the cutter but the punch broke after 25 punches at the most..It worked well before it broke.

Hole punch needs help with an ice pick.

The cutter works very well. The punch has problems most of the time- makes a deep dent, but does not punch all the way through the wall. I made non-leaking connections by using the punch once to start a hole in the 1/2 inch irrigation pipe, then using an ice pick to make a small perforation all the way through the pipe sidewall, followed by inserting the 1/4 inch drip tubing connector. No leaks occurred using the ice pick with the punch to make holes. It definitely helps to have black 1/2 inch tubing sit out in the sun to warm up before you start making holes.

cutter is dull and hole punch should have a spring to help open them back up. Keep looking not a deal.

Better than the punch!

Way better than the old punch style, especially if you have a lot of holes to do. Tubing cutter works well.
