Nice pants. Zipper broke first time I wore them

I have these pants, and the accompanying jacket. They are a nice pair of items, but the first time I wore the pants, the zipper broke. The teeth on one side just pulled right out when I tried to unzip the trousers.

Nice stretch, sized a little big, but very robustly made for the weight

The media could not be loaded. I requested these when I was looking for a lightweight pair of water-resistant shell pants, primarily for hiking and backpacking. My requirements are low weight, flexibility, and good performance in extended squall conditions; breathability is a plus. The material from which these pants are constructed has a great amount of stretch, considering its water-repellency. It's not completely waterproof, lacking a coating that would compromise the mobility afforded by the fabric. I did do a somewhat unfair stress test in my shower (see video) to see what happens when the pants are soaked for an extended period of time, and was pleased to see that though water did begin to wick into the interior side of the fabric, I stayed relatively dry even as the exterior shell was completely soaked. In more representative storm conditions with the spray farther away, the interior stayed dry. Conclusion: these pants are adequately water repellent! They do run large. I got the XL so I could wear these over a pair of jeans or other heavy pants, even though my waist is under 40" (most of the time). They are about 4" too long for my 38x32 typical pant size, and the cut is so generous that the elastic doesn't cinch back either at the waist or the cuff. With boots, this probably wouldn't be an issue, though I wouldn't expect a tight seal on the bottom without an additional gaiter. The fly has a relatively stiff flap over the robust zipper, making it both easy to operate and well protected from the elements. All the other zippers have integral self-sealing flaps over them to prevent moisture incursion, and should be effective in anything except standing water. The lower leg zippers go all the way up to the knee, and can thus accommodate knee-high boots underneath without a problem. The pockets have a soft cloth mesh on the side opposite the leg for good drainage, and retain the shell fabric on the skin side for added protection when the pockets are open. The belt loops and fly closure are really robust. You can hang whatever you want off the loops, and though the closure looks like a snap at first glance, it's actually a clasp, which makes it strong but easy to open with gloves on. The only thing I wish I had known before I had requested it is to go with my actual size. Even though I plan to use these over fleece or long johns as a base layer, they're huge at the XL size. I could have gone with the L and still worn them over jeans with room to spare. As for weight, they're heftier than a lightweight water resistant shell, but that's a tradeoff for the flexibility of the fabric. They'll be good for shoulder season backpacking when I'm willing to take a little extra weight to handle the occasional snowfield or heavy squall. They'd also make great powder pants for skiing.

Lightweight; Comfortable; Water Resistant Rather Than Water Proof

These are very nice pants. To spoil the fun -- they aren't just for fishing. They are fashionable as a regular, everyday pant. They are lightweight, cool, and are very comfortable to wear because they kind of 'glide' over your legs as you move. Quality is definitely above average. The price seems a bit high for what you get, but they are indeed nice. Fitting is on the larger side. I'd suggest sizing down if you are slender. Otherwise, you can keep it true to size. The important part of these pants is the water proofing. They are not completely water proof, rather water-resistant. They will keep rain off of you if you are splashing a bit of water on you from ... fishing, or light drizzle. You can't keep dry if you're sailing on a boat, and get a big swell hitting you. Overall, great water-resistant pants.

EXCELLENT PANTS! Plenty of length. Smart features, very water proof. Can layer over other pants.

Very well made fully waterproof pants with lots of smart features. SIZING: Size M waist is perfect for 5'11" 185" son in law who typically wears size M in pants like this. They do run long with plenty of length - attached is a pic without boots on, can see the extra length. So they would definitely work for 6' or even taller without being short even when sitting down. Lots of room to tuck into boots or waders or wear over boots without riding up past boot tops. Waterproof! It's not fishing season yet but he wore these over warmer pants to clear heavy wet snow - absolutely water proof. These will be excellent for fishing, camping, any outdoor work in the rain/near water. So many smart design features to these pants! Loops at waist to attach clips. Buttons are secure, the attachment slides in to lock. No matter how active these pants aren't going to pop open. Plenty of zippers very well made - rubber zipper pulls, the zipper sides are rubber and when closed they blend into the pants. Waterproof and secure. Bottoms have long zippers up the sides to make taking on/off over even the biggest boots easy to do. Lining comfortable and added waterproofing. Excellent waterproof pants - definitely recommend! Nice enough to gift.

Nice rain pants, order up a size

These are nice rain pants. I ordered a large that fit my trousers with just enough room to be comfortable. I should have ordered one size larger for the extra space. The quality of these is good, and the bottoms match the jacket I already have. Mossy Oak is a good brand with good products, and these pants are no exception. I've only worn these once in light rain, and they kept me dry. I'll come back to update my review if anything changes my opinion.

Great rain pants!

I live in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Along with all of the natural beauty of this area, comes a fair amount of wet weather. Staying dry while being outside enjoying nature is critical to avoiding hypothermia. At the same time, conventional rain pants can be bulky, heavy and awkward. Further, wearing standard rain pants during strenuous activities can actually be counter productive to staying dry, as they can cause you to overheat and sweat too much. These pants overcome all of these obstacles. They are super lightweight and breathable. The full length side zippers allow for excellent ventilation to prevent overheating. The zippers also allow for you to take the pants off and on without removing your shoes or boots. The elastic waistband keeps them secure on you, but they also have regular belt loops should you require a belt for additional security. Zippered hip pockets and rear pocket provide security for holding your stuff. Cargo pockets on the legs also hold an ample amount of stuff. Very happy with these pants. Highly recommended.
