Short wristband

I’ve been a Casio G Shock fan for a while, I’ve had a few over the years, so this time I thought I’d try a different style of wristband. Average size guy, 5’9” about 190 lbs and I don’t think I have a large wrist and where the shaped molded rubber type has holes to spare this band fits around my wrist with only 2 holes to spare.

My first G Shock - it's awesome!

I am extremely happy with my G Shock DW9052V-1CR watch by Casio. With so many to choose from, I was not sure where to start. There was something about this model that I thought this would be good one to start with, and am I glad I did! It is easy to read, feels very comfortable, and looks great. The backlight exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!

Christmas Present

My son loves watches but he’s a teenager and needed something that can take a beating. This is the perfect watch for that and he loves it.

Very nice watch overall; just one small gripe.

Generally, I really like this watch. It is very rugged, with a bit of an "industrial" appearance, yet stylish. The display is easy-to-read, and has a very effective backlight. I also like the "pie-chart"-like percentage of minute counter. Initially, it was a bit confusing to set the time, but looking at the manual quickly eliminated my confusion. The window on the front is large, and made of quartz - not cheap plastic like the Timex ones I've owned before. Plus, it's water resistant to 200' - so it can withstand pretty much anything I'd throw at it. Moving on to the physical aspects, the watch is a bit on the larger size, but still fits and retains well on my smaller wrists. FINALLY! It's been so aggravating in the past not to be able to find a watch that fits - they were either far too tight, or so loose they'd slip down my arm. None of these issues are present here. And, despite its larger, rugged size, the watch doesn't look "dorky" on me - a gripe I've had with some other watches as well. Although the band buckle was a bit loose at first, after fiddling with the strap a bit and fastening the "retainer" band, this fixed the issue. However, my only small complant is that because the "pleather" pieces around the top of the band are somewhat stiff, this sometimes causes the face of the watch to press against my skin. Adjusting the band, however, tends to fix this. Additionally, the band ever-so-slightly "rubs" (presses) against my wrist as I flex it at times, but it is minor and does not lead to significant discomfort - which has an issue on tons of other watches I've owned in the past.

Falls behind

Falls behind about a second every week...not a battery issue I've replaced it multiple times and still happens. Still recommend for the price

Get out the magnifying glass! Time and date are extremely small. Way smaller than most budget Casios

I have a number of Casio watches, and I've always found them to be excellent quality and easy to read. Because of my positive experience with Casios, I decided to spring for a G-Shock. This is a BIG watch. At least twice the size of cheap Casios like the F91W. Despite the large physical presence of this watch, the digits are TINY. They are at least 50% smaller than the digits on an F91W. This makes the time difficult to read at a glance, and the day+date are so small you need to squint, or do a double take to make it out. This is physically a very nice watch with a heavy duty canvas strap, but unless you're in the military, in terms of daily functionality, you'll be much better off with a $25-30 Casio with larger digits as this watch really is hard to read. I've found cheap Casio's to be pretty much indestructible anyways so the G-Shock durability will be pointless for most people.

Ugly and hard to read

Description failed to mention how ugly this watch is. Face of the watch is cluttered with un-necessary plastic that looks even worse in person. The time is provided with 'tiny digital characters' that make it more difficult to read than necessary. And exterior buttons are surrounded by plastic shrouds that make it too difficult to push in the buttons to use the watch functions. I wanted to like this thing, and had hoped it would make a decent replacement for my old Timex Ironman, but the fugly looks, and daft plastics everywhere ruining the functionality, made me have to return it. If the above impression of the watch weren't bad enough, the watch (in its frail original box) was simply shipped in a thin bubble envelope. Needless to say, when the bubble envelope was opened, the watch box inside had been pulverized and bashed beyond anything sensible. A 2" x 4" box (with watch inside) reduced to 1" x 5" pancake. Seriously, in this day and age of shipping boxes, they ship this item in an envelope? If there was a silver lining, it was that the mashed up box still seemed to protect the watch from any particular damage. But weird to see such a ridiculous shipping presentation.

Great watch!

Absolutely love the watch. I have always hated rubber/plastic straps on watches and have usually opted for steel/metal. I love the canvas strap on this watch. I have fairly large wrists and at first i found that one setting was just a bit to loose and one was just a bit to tight. After it got a bit wet it gave just the perfect amount of stretch to comfortably fit my wrist. The light to illuminate the time works well and is clearly visible at night. I have absolutely 0 issues or negative things to say about this watch. It is now my daily one to wear.

What I was looking for

It's a G shock watch. I needed it for work and G shocks are reliable, work well and easy to set up.the band is OK kinda wish I got a snap back but that's just my preference. Over all very pleased with my purchase.
