Nice little set
This is awesome! The little peg board and variety of patterns are just great. The patterns stay in the board well and it's easy for my 4 year old to use. The biggie beads are great, too. I originally bought him a set with the regular sized beads, but those were pretty frustrating for him because it's so easy to dislodge beads. Even as an adult, it's a little tricky. The biggie beads are perfect for a young child, though. We will try the small beads again in a couple of years.

Perler Biggie Beads pattern kit
We have played with the smaller Perler beads, but my grandchildren (ages 5 & 3) had difficulty finishing the patterns and correctly placing the beads due to their small size . . . even the girls, who are very good with their small motor skills for their age. I discovered that they made larger beads, so I ordered them and thought we'd give them a try. The children loved them! They are easily placed on the pattern board with their fingers. They didn't need a special tool to put them where they wanted them to go. Even their younger brother (who is 2) was able to play with the larger set. The pattern kit has everything you need except the beads, which must be purchased separately. It works with the "Biggie Perler Beads" . . . NOT with the smaller size. The kit comes with a collection of colored paper patterns. You place the pattern in the tray that fits under the clear "bead board." The pattern can be clearly seen through the board. You can then place the beads over the "pegs" in the bead board above the marked pattern to create a design. You then take the completed project to an iron and ironing board, place the special non-stick paper over the beads, and carefully iron over the beads with a medium iron. It does take longer to iron the larger beads than the smaller beads to get them to melt together, and you will want to "flip" the project over and iron both sides in order to make certain the project stays together. The Biggie bead projects also will retain the heat from the iron much longer, so use care in handling them for awhile, or you will get burned. But the Biggie bead projects that you can create with this kit create a lot of excitement for the little ones. Some of the patterns included with the kit are a car, a truck, a ladybug, a spider, a seahorse, octopus, various fruit, different balls, a butterfly, and more. It also comes with a sheet of ironing paper. You can also use the bead board without a pattern to create your own design. Of course, you don't have to iron the project together if you don't wish to keep the finished project or you want to reuse the beads, but my grands enjoyed showing their creations off to everyone. The five-year-olds were able to complete their projects independently (with the exception of ironing the finished project, which is an adult job.) The three and two-year-olds needed assistance to finish their projects. Once again, you must purchase the beads separately. You can get a bucket of the Biggie beads, which is enough for about a dozen projects, depending upon which colors you use and the sizes of the chosen designs. I would recommend this Biggie bead pattern kit. My grandchildren had a lot of fun with it, and I anticipate that we will be using it quite often in the future. You really need to use a bead board of some kind in order to create a bead project without a lot of frustration and difficulty, and this product fits the bill perfectly.

Fun activity, but patience is needed when heating to fuse beads together
Perler Beads are a fun activity for children, however, the Biggie Beads do not fuse with the heated iron as quickly as the regular sized beads. It took a while longer for these beads to heat up and eventually fuse together, my reason for a 4 star rating. I recommend the Biggie Beads for 4-5 year olds, as they are easier to grasp and create with as opposed to the smaller beads.

Great craft for young kids and older - but adult assisted for ironing!
My 4 1/2 year old is just starting to like Perler beads. We use the biggies because even as an adult, I think they're easier being larger in size. A couple notes - you have to buy the right size kit / tray / board for the biggie beads (the biggie tray is about 6" x 6"). The kits come with 2-sided designs to follow although some I had a hard time telling what the design was. Typically a tray or tub of beads comes with one or two sheets of ironing paper. If you are looking at Perlers for the first time, know that this is sort of an adult assisted project, because at the end of this project the adult is to iron the beads together (it takes about 1 minute each side). ...Someone told me I could use parchment paper if I would run out of the ironing sheets. Wax paper apparently doesn't work. I haven't tried anything other than what comes with the beads and I use each sheet over again until it starts to look thinned out or rips. To make digging for the bead colors more enjoyable than digging for the bead colors, invest in a $7 divided tray from Amazon or a craft store and take the time to separate the colors. I've seen the regular sized perler beds sold in the divided trays for a little more money than a tub. I couldn't get my just turned 4 year old into this but almost 5 and she likes it alot. Most craft stores carry perlers you just have to look for all things "biggie" if going for the larger beads. One thing about the biggies I wish would change is that I wish they would sell the individual color beads. I have only seen regular (small) sized beads sold by color. But overall, very happy with this craft - the trays are big enough for little hands and the instructions are short and easy to understand.

This is good for younger kids
The pattens were easy to follow They were colorful and interesting for younger kids. The trays were very sturdy and easy to use This was just the trays and patterns for Perler biggie beads. You have to order the beads separately. This is not a complaint as I knew that when I ordered it it is just a bit of information for other people to know I was very happy with my purchase and would buy this again

Frame warped
Loved the many design sheets that fit under the clear bead peg board. But the frame was warped and I couldn’t snap the board to the frame. Hubby is trying to ‘un-warp’ the frame using heat. Regardless it is still worth the money!

Excellent product!
This is a great item for young children who are into creating colourful pictures with beads. The only thing that i do wish is that they had a kit that had all of these boards along with the beads, however I did get the beads separately with no problem. The delivery to Canada was very quick & efficient as well. I would highly recommend this product & its supplier.

exactly as described
item arrived quickly and is exactly as described, it is large and easy for a 5 year old boy to see and work with, although because they are so large it takes a really long time to finish one. I was pleased with the variety of patterns.
