Lovely Gift and very Responsive Customer Service

I bought this playset for my eight-year-old, and it was just perfect. Since I lack a green thumb, I was apprehensive about how this would go, but I'm delighted to report our seeds have sprouted and are growing well. We did have some initial problems with it--despite following instructions about soaking the soil, we found our soil too wet. However, PlayMonster, when we contacted them, couldn't have been more helpful--shipping out several more soil packs at no cost as well four additional seed packets. I'd urge anyone who has any kind of issue with the playset to first contact customer service before rushing to write a negative review. If you give them a chance, they can and do respond very swiftly to address whatever issue you might have. Other customers here have mentioned mold--the key is to very lightly water your soil. We've been putting ours out into the sun during the day, and the plants are growing quite nicely.

Seeds sprout quickly

Easy to setup. Seeds sprouted just 24 hours after planting! It comes with condensed soil in discs that you soak in water for about 30 minutes to get them to expand. My 5 year old thought that part was a lot of fun. I chose to add about 2 cups of my own garden soil because the amount it came with just didn’t seem like enough. I gave only 4 stars because the “teacup fairy house” is rather flimsy and was slightly deformed so that the door does not close; the seeds are packaged all together, not separately labeled so we could not choose what plants went where. Some of he seeds were the size of like a grain of sand so was difficult to ensure that they werent planted too close together. But the quickness that they’ve sprouted, and the rate they’ve continued to grow is awesome. (1.5” within 3 days of planting) We are using a small “grow light” that I purchased for under $10 which may have helped.

Cool idea but flimsy

I found the plastic leaves and bridge flimsy, but I love this idea. The bridge had to be super-glued together as it kept coming apart. None of our seeds sprouted. Also, for outdoor use, the bottom needs a drainage hole with a plug so that you can remove it if using this outdoors. I'm going to have to drill a hole or something. That said my daughter, age 3, LOVES the fairy doll and squirrel that were included and sleeps with them on her pillow at night. I didn't attach them to the garden but let her play with them and she likes making them act out pretend scenes. We added a few plastic doll chairs I made a welcome mat with felt for the teacup house. Voilà, outdoor play area for her! She's had it for a few weeks and nothing has broken yet. The fairy seems more durable than my daughter's mini Tinkerbell dolls. I wish I could buy more separately for her fairy to have a friend.

It came with a wonderful assortment of organic herbs

My 5 year old granddaughter planted this garden over the summer. It came with a wonderful assortment of organic herbs, lettuces and greens. My granddaughter dumpted the entire pack of seeds in the fairy garden all at once lol. Within a week we had an abundance of sprouts (too many for the size of the container). After several weeks the sproutings began to die off. I then (not very carefully) transplanted the seedlings into a window planter box. I would recommend planting a third of the seeds that come in the package in the fairy garden so your child can experience the initial growing stage. Once the seedling become 1-2 inches tall I would transplant them to a larger pot so you can space them and give them room to grow. You can then plant a new crop in the fairy garden. I've included a picture of the second crop since July. I recognize red giant mustard greens, arugala, dill, salad greens and I thnk chicory. My grandaughter loves that she can eat what she grew! No seeds

I picked this up for my daughter’s 4th birthday, and she loved it. She was very excited to play in the dirt and plant some seeds. Unfortunately ours did not include seeds. My wife had a few random flower seeds laying around, and I got an assortment pack with a recent home goods order. We made it work, but no clue what abomination will grow from it. Another concern is there is only about 1/3 the depth of soil pictured on the box. I’m assuming any decent flower would need more than a half inch of roots, but dirt is easy enough to come by.

Fantastic little kit!

Bought this for my son, who loves to garden. He wasn't thrilled about the fairy aspect, but he spruced it up with some Pokemon figures. The plants sprouted right away and are growing well, but I doubt they will ever bloom. Even in a bright window, they are weak and leggy and falling over. Once I read the seed packet ingredients I knew they wouldn't be great plants for the space, so I had planned on getting him better plants later anyway. I'm still giving it five stars, though, because it was a adorable little kit, with dirt and tools and decorations and seeds, and the wire for the fairy to fly on was really clever. My son has had a fantastic time taking care of his tiny garden. I got my two daughters different kits from the same company and they loved them, too. I even want one!

5 Year Old LOVES it, but somewhat weedy plants grow

We gave this to a 5 year old with an indoor grow light to help the plants. She LOVES it. The plants grow fast and the accessories are really cute. She is simply entranced. One issue is that the plants seem to he growing up to be weeds. That is likely part of why they grow so fast. The girl is young enough not to notice, but we will have to buy some tiny little flowers or something. Seeds do not sprout

Very cute and fun for my daughter but none of the seeds sprouted. We put our own plant clippings in it and she loves it. I suggest to buy your own seeds.

A great purchase

This fairy garden was a Christmas gift for a 7 year old. She planted it on Christmas day and it showed signs of growth in about 4 days. We did put a plastic cover on it a few days after starting it to help it along. She doesn't play with the characters yet so the garden isn't 'trampled' or plants bent yet. It's been growing for just over a month (in the winter in Northern Canada) and the plants are 2-3" high. It was easy to put the pieces together, easy to fluff the soil following the directions and easy to grow. Cons: -there seems to always be some light mold on the soil, even though we try not to over-water and let it dry out before watering again. However the plants don't seem to mind at all and are thriving. -the provided soil didn't quite fill the bowl enough so the river and bridge toys are suspended over the soil and are not resting on it like it should be. Easy fix is to add a bit of soil yourself. -the plants were fragile babies (as expected) for a month so it might not be a good idea for impatient children who need to play with it immediately. I would recommend this to anyone and I will purchase it again for others!

Niece loved it

Bought this as a birthday present for my niece, she loved it. My daughter was quite intrigued with it so I will probably buy another one for her. Exactly as pictured. Very cute idea to get little ones into gardening

Provides continuous entertainment for kids.

Granddaughter loved it. We did it together and she had a whole summer of growing plants and playing with the fairy items that came with would definitely recommend for kids. My granddaughters are 3 and 6.
