Not right but it works

The part I received was not this part. It was similar but it was all plastic. I had to modify it but I made it work and it seems to perform satisfactorily.

If you've been researching for a Moen part and came to this item as your conclusion, because of the Amazon photo, do not order this. What you will receive instead is the same as what I provided in my photos. What I actually needed is what was in the Amazon photo, but received something else, a 18585B, not "A". I'm not even sure what Danco 18585A looks like. True, this is a 7J-8D, in plumbing lingo, but the diverter valve is of different design that will not work for my Moen (design discontinued due to new diverter design since 2009). I tried to install it and not only did I have to use a 13/16 spark plug socket (outside diameter of socket smaller than my normal short and deep socket) to fit in the housing, when installed, more water was coming from below than before with the very worn original, when it was all supposed to be coming from above. Moen uses 3/4 to remove the OEM diverter. If the part you need looks the same as the Amazon photo, take a look at Moen PN: 94543. I gave this a 1 star due to Amazon sending the wrong part number from what was listed.

I cannot believe Amazon had it!

My faucets were from 1987 and I didn’t hold much hope I would find this part. After the big box stores, my local hardware store and numerous online sites, I found it here where I should have come first. Just as the picture presented, a perfect match! Amazon has everything!
