So far OK.

The problem with reviewing this product is that it is supposed to last for a decade in my well (the last one lasted over 20 years). I installed it and it works, I was pleasantly surprised that it came with a wire splice kit. The last pump I had, however, had the wire built into it (came with 200' of wire,) so no splicing was even needed. Maybe in 10 years I'll write another review if I am still alive. This pump seems to pump at a faster rate than the old one, although it is the same HP. The motor on this pump is Franklin Electric, the same as Goulds' motor I had before. Note: Franklin Electric is willing to honor their warranty on this pump even when bought from Amazon. Flotec people told me their pumps if bought from Amazon have no warranty of any kind. p.s. For some reason Amazon says in the description that it only pumps from depths up to 100', however, looking at the specs of this pump elsewhere and confirming with Franklin Electric (the parent company of Red Lion) this pump is good up to 200'. Of course the flow rate is reduced with deeper wells. My pump is sitting at about 170' but since my static water level is only approximately 50' down only the difference really means anything. Update: It is May 10, 2013. The pump has been in the well for over half a year. No problems this far. If you are putting this pump down yourself, I suggest buying a reel of stainless steel cable that can hold 200lbs weight and hook it up to the pump (there is an ear on the pump for that). If need be you could raise the pump then by wrapping the cable around a 2 X 4 and rotating it to raise the pump. Very simple to do, much easier than rigging a tripod.

American made Submersible well pump With top rated American motor !!!

This was the pump I needed for my application. The quality looks very good. It came with the waterproof splice kit!!! (Follow instructions & seal with rubber tape)Not indicated in the description!!! The wires were long and stripped properly and sealed in the pump motor. I added a 3rd wire (green) for the ground and wound it in with my two conductor #12 twisted wire well cable. The pump works well and delivers the volume of water indicated. My well is approx. 100 ft deep and the pump is approx. 50 ft down. submerged 20 to 25 ft into the water. I used 1 1/4 to 1" Stainless reducer 1" poly pipe ( heat poly with a heat gun)and 3 stainless USA clamps top and bottom. I have had it in for only a couple of months!! My first and only pump lasted over 35 years. Maintaining the pressure switch reverse flow check valve and and the air tank in top condition is the secret to pump longevity. Do not use a pump with a required control box!!! The control boxes fail from corrosion , component failure and lightning. I do not use well water during lightning storms. When the pump reaches cut out pressure all power is disconnected by the pressure switch saving the pump in case of lightning strike. So far so good!!! ONLY TIME WILL TELL!!

Quality pump for my sprinkler!

Like this pump! Bought it for my lake fed sprinkler system I run 4-6 heads on each zone. It’s about 10’ deep in the lake with about 10-12’ rise above the lake to get to the house/yard. Has plenty of pressure and hasn’t let me down. It’s a bit more expensive but the quality seems to be worth it! A neighbor had recommended it as well and his has been going strong for 6 years.

It worked like a champ

We bought this to replace a Franklin well pump two and a half months ago. Did the replacement myself and I've had no problems since. NOTE: I bought the wrong pump. This pump has two "hot" wires and a ground (two black, one green), my old pump had two "hot" wires and a negative (one red, one yellow, one black). The circuitry to control the pump is built into the motor so you do NOT need a control box. Having an existing control box, had to redo the existing wiring in my home to bypass the control box circuitry for the hots and and then connect the "negative" wire directly to ground. It worked like a champ. Great pressure with a 100' drop. Popped the old pump off, bought a brass pipe attachment, threaded it on with thread sealer, used the included wire splice kit to create a waterproof electrical connection, then taped the wire to the pipe as it went back into the well. I will be buying another one (or two!) of these to have on hand in case of emergencies. Great, solid product. Its hard to believe sometimes that this piece of machinery is 100' in the ground doing all that work of moving water for us. Trust me, there isn't a better deal out there for the quality OR the price. Just be clear which one you want; This one, or the "three wire" variant.

Easy and straight forward setup

I am really pleased over the unit I selected for my shallow well. My well is about 48 feet deep and I have water up to 6 feet from the surface. My older system was a jet pump that was noisy to say the least. This submersible was a small 1/2 horse 230 VAC unit. At the test setup above ground I pushed water just 10 feet up a 1" pipe into the air. The unit pumped about 3 gallons a second and was very powerful for such a small pump. However, after submersing the pump and pressurizing the system, the pump worked perfectly for my family of 4 usage.

Don't buy

I should of headed the reviews. I bought this pump for a cottage water system. I spent several hours installing, trouble shooting and uninstalling this pump. I determine this pump is a dud. It had been previously installed by someone else judging by the state of the packaging and condition of the wire leads and resold to me as new. The motor just buzzes. The 30 day return window has past so now I'm stuck with it.
