Too tall to be a runner, but shorter than their mids

I have been through about a dozen pair of the GTX mids, and a couple of the trail runners. And I was very happy with those. I had previously been through several pairs of the Merrel Moabs. But switched to Salomon after the build quality/QC of the Merrels got spotty. The quality of this model is good. But it has a couple of issues with the design. The tongue is too narrow and leaves a gap at the top. And, the oddest part is they shorter than all my other mids. They lack that extra half an inch or so of side ankle support. But taller than my rail runners and would not work good for that.

not up to standards of salomon

I wore these boots a handful of times. Lacing them up on about the 6th day of use (this was causal use, had not even taken the boots on hike or REAL walk!) the fabric eyelet failed- I would not recommend these boots. I will never purchase another salomon boot. These are my 3rd pair of Salomons. I had two other light weight salomon boots (they since quite manufacturing, that particular model). Those boots while light did not last very long either. But still for being light weight I thought maybe OK. BUT this was it! These poorly produced boots reinforced my notion that Salomon is just not a really finely produced boot.

Leaking after six weeks

I have had several pairs of these made by Salomon but these are the first made in India rather than Vietnam. I have worn them several times over a six week period and experienced leaking for the second time….walking a few hundred metres over boggy grass both shoes leaked lot. Have not had this so soon with previous pairs Very disappointed as they are so comfortable and grippy but water leaking like this is just not acceptable. They were expensive and advertised as waterproof. Attached photo shows what happens if you fill them with water.

Solid lightweight boots

I use these for desert trekking where a lightweight boot is a must. These fit the bill nicely.
