I love this
I got this and eagerly waited for a good rain to try it out. We had quite a drought. Rain finally came, and the umbrella met all my expectations! It takes a minute for the colors to change, but when they do, it’s so cool! Only problem is that you have to put it down to see it, and that defeats the purpose of an umbrella.

Very reflective umbrella that works as intended.
I ordered this umbrella through Amazon and I have had it for a little over 4 months now. The umbrella is a small, compact, manual folding umbrella. The frame of the umbrella is somewhat flimsy and does not appear to be of very good quality and the handle is very small. However, the umbrella does open and close and I have used it fairly regularly as I live in Vancouver and it rains a lot and I have not yet had any problems. The reason that I bought the umbrella was for the reflective canopy and that works very well. During the day, the canopy appears to be dull grey but at night it reflects any direct (e.g. car headlights) or ambient light (e.g. street lights) and it is very visible. In the winter I usually end up walking home form work in the dark and I usually wear dark clothing and I have noticed that drivers were having a hard time seeing me. However, with this umbrella they see me right away. I wish that the frame was of better quality and I have deducted one star for that. That said, I think this umbrella is a great idea. I am not aware of any other umbrella that is anywhere near as reflective as this one so I will continue to use it.

Feels too delicate to withstand the wind
I really love the aspect of reflective umbrella simply for the safety reasons of using at night. The concept of having a highly visible umbrella when you're crossing the street during a rain storm is a very nice, as a matter of fact I'm surprised that more companies do not come out with ideas like this for their umbrellas simply because it's so practical. Yes polka dots and flower designs are great but they're not visible at nighttime in the same way that this reflective material is. That being said I do wish that this reflective material was brighter, there are fabrics with more reflective qualities then this. But most importantly the construction of this umbrella does not feel as strong as many other umbrellas do. While the price is fairly high the quality does not seem to reflect that, which is unfortunate, I cannot say that I am confident that this umbrella won't break on me or turn inside out and high winds. Overall because there are no other umbrellas on the market that article of water and reflecting such as this one I do not recommend it but at the same time be aware that it may not last you for a long time.

Serviceable for intended purpose
Purchased mostly for the novelty, the concept of an umbrella to increase your visibility when it's most likely to be used, dark or overcast rain conditions makes sense and falls under the "why did no one think of this sooner?" category. As an umbrella, it should work fine. A few points to consider: - This is not your average nylon umbrella. It's thick, almost like vinyl. It seems like 3M Scotchlite, though that's not indicated anywhere. If you've ever seen anything with Scotchlite reflective strips you know how thick it can be. This is that thick, all of it. The material doesn't like to collapse or fold well. Trying to get the velcro strap around it is a stretch. I'm expecting the tight folding will cause some breakdown in the reflective properties at the creases. - It's a collapsible umbrella, but has no spring loading. The new style is nifty where the button collapses the top as well as extends the entire package. This doesn't even work like the old style, where the button springs everything out. This is 100% manual opening. The shaft will extend while the umbrella is in the case if you try to grab the handle and pull. You need to push from the closed end of the carry case and get some bulk hanging out that you can grab on to. - The handle is plastic, and threads on to a plastic tip. Expecting this may fail at some point. Overall, you're likely paying for the reflective material and possibly the most bare-bones, chintziest umbrella framework probably out of the East.

Bought this for my middle schooler as things get dark and rainy here in Seattle. But after opening the darn thing there was NO WAY we could easily close it up again and wrap the strap around it. When I finally got it secured, the strap stitching had started to pull apart. And there was no way to get it back in the little pocket thing. The fabric seems thick for the reflective quality maybe but poorly designed and definitely not going to send it with my kiddo to wrestle with as she gets on the bus. Lame.

Handle fell off the 2nd time I used it.

Great buy
Sturdy enough in wind. Reflective material is very cool! I wish they made more varieties of umbrella with this material. It’s perfect for my 45 min walk to and from work in the dark Vancouver winter.
