A way to check for leaks and save time. Reusable.

I use these mainly on shower head insulations. That way I can check for leaks before the Sheetrock and/or shower walls are installed. I used two of them this time for a new Shower Panel Tower. You don’t need any tools to install them or take them out. A real timesaver.

Beats using iron pipe test plugs

For years plumbers used iron pipe with a cap for shower drop ells. But about 5 years ago I switched to these plastic test plugs after a job came to a standstill and sat for over a year. The old tried and true iron pipes began to rust and one seized up due to galvanic corrosion. Since then it's been nothing but these SharkBite test plugs because you don't need to use PTFE tape and paste with them like metal and there's never a problem with rust of corrosion. The washers will wear after a while but are easily replaced and for that I use O-rings because they hold up better. Plus if you apply a little bit of liquid soap to the washer and/or O-ring before tightening it seals better.

Was worried about banging into them but they're solid

I was worried about snapping these off or stripping the threads by banging into them but they're pretty solidly in place in a charged system, keeping water inside the drop elbows just fine

Easy to use and easy on the wallet.

I ordered 2 of these shower test plugs and both worked flawlessly. I was very pleased with the fast one day delivery and low price point. In order to ensure a leak free installation use a bit of Teflon tape, make sure you don’t cross-thread, and only hand tighten.

Works as expected. I did replace the rubber gasket supplied with the unit with a better sized rubber o-ring.

Doesn't come with instructions so I learned the hard way. Make sure you use teflon tape otherwise it won't hold the pressure for long. Without the tape, you will twist it on so tight that it stretches and distorts the rubber gasket and water will leak. 1 star to start, 5 stars at the end

Garbage ... leaks every time.

Although this item is listed as Sharkbite brand, I doubt it is. Sharkbite stuff is well made, and this thing leaks when you use it, no matter how tight you install it. Don't waste your money ....
