Already rusting

It's tin. I really wanted stainless steel, but it's difficult to find single layer medium mesh strainers in stainless for some reason. After a pre use cleaning with dish soap and a sponge followed by a quick and thorough drying, it's already got rust spots on the mesh.

I have large hole strainer and tiny mesh strainers but sometimes you just need that medium mesh

Be aware--the mesh is not stainless steel

We had a strainer with medium/coarse mesh for years, but the frame finally gave out. Most strainers seem to be fine mesh. When I found this one, I bought it. The mesh was the size we were looking for, and it worked great. Until it started to rust. Now the hunt is on again for a strainer, since by the time it started to rust it was outside the return window. Disappointing, because we really like it.

A Great Strainer

Big enough to drain pasta or to sift dry ingredients for baking. This medium mesh strainer is well-made and I use it almost daily. Highly recommended.

Good value

Nicely made and affordable, but only about half the depth of the worn out 35 year old model it replaced. That has both advantages and disadvantages, as you might imagine. We've kept the damaged but still usable older strainer for when we need the extra volume.

Course Mesh Strainer

It seemed difficult to find other-than fine mesh strainers until I found this model. I have used this for draining Pasta, but more importantly for straining tomato. The course mesh is perfect for passing the juice and pulp and holding back seed or anything larger. Great for homemade (homegrown) tomato sauce. Would like to see more offers with course mesh.

Rusts around the edges.

Rust developed all around the reinforced edge. It happened after one hand washing.
