Nice Tool For the Money

These are great wire strippers for the money. I put my other strippers inside the tool bag and keep these in the outside pocket for quick access. These were on sale for about $13 when I bought them, and I would buy them again at full price if I had too. When used properly they did not cut into the copper, and I like the lock feature to keep them closed. I don't often leave reviews, but I feel like these were a real deal and wanted to share.

Good Wire Striper for the smaller gauge (bigger diam.) wires.

I needed to strip #6. So I got this to do it right. The stripper worked well. The #6 was multi-stranded. Stripping the 6/3 wires resulted in one very light scratch on one of the strands in one of the 3 wires.

Strips Stranded: 6-12 AWG Solid: 4-10 AWG Cuts threaded 6-32 8-32 Pros Locking for closed position Spring loaded Thick handles Cons Some play in the joint. Its not that big of a deal since when it does slide, it isn't in a direction to make the stripping slots smaller. Probably just a unlucky one that got through but again not a big deal(does not affect function).

If you need to strip 8 or 6 awg wire more than one in your life just go ahead and buy these

I don't use them often, but have stripped maybe 100 connections with them over the last two years and am totally satisfied. Design is like the Klein Kurve but significantly cheaper. Cuts and strips 8 and 6awg cleanly. At this price point I considered them paid for by the second time I used them. Since I rarely need these larger sizes I used to just use a knife but these are cleaner, faster, and safer. I wasn't expecting to care, but the stainless steel has actually been nice. My other pairs of pliers and crimpers seem to quickly develop some surface rust, but after riding around in my bag for a few years these still look new.

The best wire strippers I’ve ever owned

I’ve owned several pairs of wire strippers in my career, including expensive ones like Klein. These are by far the best I’ve ever owned. The only downside I can give is that the actual cutters on them do have a tendency to develop a chink or two over time.

Best wire stripper for large gauge wire.

Absolutely the best wire stripper for large gauge electrical cable. I needed something to strip 6 gauge Romex for a wall charger. After shopping around I found this one was the best value for the money. Works as described. Southwire is a quality brand. You can’t go wrong with their products.

The lock is annoying to use

These are sharp and thick metal and accurate. Only issue is the lock. I haven’t seen one like it on any of the 10+ other strippers I’ve used and I don’t understand why these use a very unnatural and difficult to use lock. Only thing I can imagine is that they didn’t want to pay to use someone’s copyrighted mechanism. But this one is sub par.

Great tool if you work with a lot of stranded #8 or #6 wire. Tool feels solid, built well.

No more sketchy boxcutters.

I bought this for one purpose: 6 AWG 4-C wire. It has been very convenient for wiring pin-and-sleeve plugs, though using too much pressure will sever a few outer strands if you "gorilla-grip" it. If only it could handle 4 AWG...
