Perfect fit
It was a perfect fit for my refrigerator, and it solved my problem with the freezer icing over.

easy to install and offers flexibility.
The original one would defrost too long and start to melt the ice in the ice maker. No more - now I can control how long it defrosts. Newer refrigerator s have computers to track how often the door is opened. Love the flexibility and it was a plug and play for me.

Carefull read the instructions!
I purchase this timer and returned because it appeared to not advance thru the defrost cycle. The replacement unit was doing the same thing until I carefully read one sentence in the instruction sheet that came with the unit.. "If the UET is in the defrost cycle when the power is interrupted, the defrost cycle will start over when the power is restored"... I had bought the unit to fix a fairly new under-counter unit that the costly electro-mechanical defrost timer wouldn't advance beyond the defrost cycle. The wiring diagram for this my refrigerator shows the neutral for the timer (terminal 3) was inline with a bi-metal switch, presumably a safety device for the defrost heating element. Once I routed around the bi-metal element the unit appears to be working as described. I believe the timer would start the defrost cycle, the heating element would start and at some point the bi-metal switch would open and power interrupted, heating element would cool off, switch close, power restored to the timer and cycle restarts... perhaps an endless loop! I mention if someone has a similar situation check if there's a situation where power interrupts and reset while in the defrost cycle.

Works perfectly
This item works great. For those who have used this electronic defrost timer and seem to have it be "stuck in defrost mode cycling", you need to make sure that your refrigerator supplies a "constant" neutral from the defrost heater circuit. Some refrigerators break the neutral feed to the defrost timer "motor" (snap switch on evaporator coil) when the evaporator temperature sensor comes up to sufficient "warmness". This will put this unit (as per its instructions if you read them) into a constant cycling of DEFROST-START STOP START. An older "clock motor" style defrost timer is immune to this quirk. As the instructions state, if the timer is in the DEFROST mode and power is interrupted, it will resume at the beginning of another DEFROST cycle, putting you in an undesired endless loop. Simply rewire your refrigerator's defrost circuit feeding this "electronic" defrost controller to supply "constant" neutral and you will be happily "off to the races". Works great. I like the "adjustability" of both defrost cycle "frequency" and duration to match a specific refrigerator's personality.

Would work great if designed properly
Crap design, maybe it works for some refrigerators but for mine, a Frigidaire mini fridge, apparently a mini fridge is too much for it to handle, this is the second one I bought which is defective, the damn relay in the "high reliability" circuit goes into some stupid oscillation during the defrost cycle SOMETIMES, sometimes it is for a few seconds, sometimes it is for the entire defrost cycle, this is absolutely horrible for reasons below; the way these are supposed to work is during the cooling cycle, the compressor is free to turn on and off as the thermostat determines, during defrost, the compressor is disconnected from the circuit, unable to turn on, and a heater engages to melt off frost which has collected on the outside of evaporator coils; this damn defrost timer goes into some brain dead state where it continually pulsates the relay switching from defrost mode to cooling mode about 4 times per second; when you disconnect power from a compressor in a refrigerator pressure reverses in the system and places a huge force on the piston making it unable to start in this state until the coolant system pressure is allowed to equalize (this just takes time), if you don't do this, the compressor can burn out from being energized but unable to run (how long would your engine and transmission last if you were in Drive and had the petal to the floor and all four wheels locked up), this is an insane amount of wear and tear on the motor, luckily modern condenser motors [should] have thermal protection integrated as a fail safe, once the motor gets roasting hot, a self resetting thermally tripped fuse opens to protect the motor because this piece of crap is seeming trying to destroy it, my refrigerator has been spared for this reason. I never imagined this kind of a problem with a solid state defrost timer which of course is supposed to be more reliable! I may go back to a motor based timer unless I find the designer of this circuit missed "Designing Circuits with Relays 101" and was too dumb to use a diode to absorb the back EMF which is resetting the clock cycle count during the defrost phase or something...

Product fit an worked very well
The product fit like it should but it wasn’t the real problem. My 1970 Kelvinator fridge died so I had to buy a new one
