Sheets do not have Deep Pockets

I managed to snag these SUPERIOR sheets on a lightening deal along with another brand sheet (CKG) with long-staple cotton in a slightly higher thread count. These felt softer and had a nicer sateen sheen than the higher thread-count sheets owing to the fact that they are Egyptian cotton. I bought "beige" which in reality is a golden caramel shade, which is a perfect pairing for my autumn theme quilt. Sadly, no joy. Upon washing with cold water (twice with baking soda and vinegar to eliminate the factory odor) and drying on low as I do with all my sheets, the fitted sheet barely fit on my mattress with foam topper. Between corners the mattress pad was visible because the sides of the fitted sheet do not drop low enough for the elastic to run under the mattress. While I managed to get them on the bed, the overly-tight fit probably would have caused the elastic to give out prematurely or eventually cause the sheets to rip trying to force it on so I took the sheets off right away and now have to figure out what to do with them. The SUPERIOR packaging states that the pockets are 18" and I only needed 15" so I thought I was within the margin for error; however, they simply do not fit. My mattress isn't a pillow-top, just a standard mattress with a memory foam topper. I can rule out shrinkage because I followed the laundering instructions — so I can only cite the possibility that the factory in India makes some sheets that are deep pockets and others that are standard and that by mistake I got the "Deep pocket" packaging but not the deep pocket sheets. Another thing buyers should be aware of is that the elastic on the fitted sheet is very thin. I have other sheet sets where a substantial piece of elastic runs the length of the fitted sheet, whereas this elastic offers very little resistance and probably would not last all that long before losing its grip even if the pockets had been deeper. (Relevant to anyone who would characterize a corner of a fitted sheet popping off the bed at night as a pet peeve.) The other set of sheets I bought here on Amazon by CKG have great reviews and claim to be "sateen" but the packaging doesn't confirm it on receipt they do not have the sateen feel (smooth) or look (shiny). I do not consider myself a "bedding snob" in the sense that I have never bought Egyptian or ultra-high thread count sheets — however, years ago locating quality mid-range sheets with a genuine sateen feel and look was not particularly difficult. With more people shopping online during the pandemic vs. at bricks-and-mortar retail stores — and the added pressure of inflation — prices have gone up for consumers but that doesn't necessarily reflect quality. Perhaps the takeaway is to support local retail stores because there is an added measure of accountability when the product in question has to pass the "in person test". Online, the best we consumers can do is go by product reviews. Either most of the reviews here don't have deep-pocket mattresses or Amazon hasn't permitted the less favorable reviews to post at the same rate they are allowing the 4-5 star reviews. Whatever the case may be, I hope my review will help spare someone else with a 15" or greater mattress height the trouble of buying sheets they can't use despite the product description in which it is said these sheets will fit an 18" deep mattress.

Extremely high quality bedding from a top notch company

I purchased a set of these sheets last year, and was so impressed with them that I came back to order another set for my bed. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a very well packed box complete with several personalized hand written notes from both the founder of the company and the sales person who took care of my order. They thanked me for my business and encouraged me to contact the sales staff and owner directly with any questions or comments I might have. They also let me know that the product I ordered wasn't in stock, so instead of making me wait for the product I had ordered, they upgraded me to a higher quality sheet set at the same price. How great is that? The company that sold me these sheets is called exceptionalsheets.com, and I placed the order by way of Amazon. I will certainly seek them out in the future for any bedding needs.

Gorgeous colour; so-so quality

This sheets are a deep, beautiful "true red" (blue undertones, not orange). The deep size fit perfectly on our pillow top mattress (no straining to pull on the fitted sheet) and the pillowcases are long enough that you don't get your regular/queen sized pillows peaking out. Didn't notice any shrinkage from drying on low heat as recommended. A bit wrinkly out of the dryer so take them out right away. My only complaint is they are a bit rough so I am really hoping they will get softer with multiple washings. Didn't realize until after washing them that they are only one-ply but for the price...

Not long enough to cover our mattress!

Honestly, the sheets have a gorgeous color to them - but I agree that they are much rougher than the last sateen sheets we had used; they wash nicely, but came out fairly wrinkled; biggest down factor - we have a nice deep mattress around 15" thick, & I would not put these sheets on a bed over 12" thick as we could only get them to cover one side - not long enough to fully cover our mattress - buyer beware if you have a very deep mattress set!

review of Egyptian cotton sheets

The sheets themselves are nice but the smell of them is horrible. I washed them after only one night because the odor was so strong. I used salt and vinegar in cold water to set the color, and baking soda for the smell. After a second washing they still are very smelly. The dye used to get them such a beautiful red must be made of something extremely potent. Think I'll hang them outside where it's bellow zero and see if that helps.

Love them

The color is absolutely gorgeous (i purchased the red ones). I laundered them according to the manufacturer's directions and they came out beautifully. They are soft and mostly wrinkle free coming out of the dryer. I do not like microfiber sheets at all and these sheets are the best 100% cotton sheets I have found in a medium price range. I will definitely purchase these in more colors. I highly recommend these sheets.

Good Value for the Money

For a guest room, they work great and fit the twin beds nicely. I have laundered them and they weren't terribly wrinkled. A little ironing might be nice. Just depends :-)

These sheets are very lightweight! They are perfect for sleepers who don't like bulk on top their bodies when they're sleeping. I can wrap them around me and feel very cozy. I love the feel. Just note they must be washed in cold water.

Work just fine!

Sheets are great for the price. I followed washing and drying instructions to the letter and had no issues. I wanted sheets for a day bed that is rarely used and they fit the new deep mattress fine. The cheapest sheets I could find with a decent thread count. Walmart's were cheaper but had a 130 thread count.
