Update: I just grabbed the watch, noticed that something slipped and found that the rubber just beneath the clasp was entirely split, rendering the watch unwearable. For Timex this is unforgivable, especially as the payment mechanism is in the strap, which will be lost when I replace it. One star docked. I live in a country that hasn't quite embraced contactless payments yet, and I don't have a Chase account, so the gadgetry in the strap is of no interest to me. What is of interest, though, are the features of a watch perfectly designed for use on my local running track. Everything is accessible at the touch of a button. The stopwatch, countdown timer and multiple alarms are all reached through the mode button, and even without reading the instructions they're easy to figure out. I'm a bit of a disaster when it comes to technology but it only took me a few seconds to work out how to time my laps. The watch itself is... well, I wouldn't call it attractive. It's not ugly, but the four chunky function buttons around the edge of the dial are a little lumpen, and the whole thing is very plasticky, but I guess that's par for the course for digital watches designed for exercise. I'm not going to be wearing this with a suit, and I'm not looking to impress anyone. I just want a functional watch that won't break if I give it a little rough treatment, and the Ironman fits the bill. I'm not sure I'd want to wear this all day, but during workouts it's perfect and allows me to leave my phone behind (I usually use that as a stopwatch/timer, which is pretty risky when you're bouncing up and down on a track). If you're able to make use of the contactless pay feature all the better. Recommended.

To be honest the wathc is one of my best ever witches I have. Super practical and not expensive option for workday use. To begin with, the adjusting is super easy. Double clicks here and there and the watch is functional out of the box within 5 minutes. Secondly, the functions included are comprhensive. From stop watch to timer to night vision and an adjustable 3 different Alarms make the watch very convenient and practical to use while working. On the other hand, the timex pay is limited and only few cards are accepted. In summary, I liked the watch. It is practical, lightweight, convenient and for the price tag it makes it super valuable.

One outstanding feature....
This is a regular Timex Ironman watch with one outstanding feature. You can use it to pay for purchases anywhere a smartwatch payment system will work (Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, Google Pay). I won't go into the Ironman features. You probably know Timex's reputation in that area if you're looking at this watch. What you need to know about is the payment system. So, first, let me say that I've had a Samsung Galaxy watch for many years and on a few notable occasions--especially when out on bike rides when I have an unexpected need--the in-watch payment ability has been a lifesaver. I don't usually carry my wallet on rides, only the watch and sometimes a phone. But without the phone I can still make a purchase with the watch. How does this watch work? There is a unique secure chip in the watchband that can be read only by contactless payment systems. That chip must be programmed to a Timex Pay account set up by the maker of the technology in the watchband (a company named "Tappy"). Upon getting your watch you must first download the Timex Pay app and set up a Timex Pay account with your name and contact info. You then press the + button on the app screen to add your watch. At this point you must take the included the Timex Pay reader/writer (called the Timex Pay UPPU clip) and attach it to a USB-C power port (on our computer or a separate power adapter, either will work). With the UPPU clip connected to power, pair the clip to your phone via your Bluetooth settings then follow the instruction on the app screen to pair the chip in your watchband with your Timex Pay account. Finally, add your Chase Visa card to your Timex Pay account. You can also use Amazon's credit card with the watch. When you need to make a purchase, the chip in your watchband will identify your watch with your credit card and allow you to pay using just the watch. And the cool thing is that your watch doesn't need power to make this happen. You don't need the Bluetooth powered adapter any more unless you need to change the credit card associated with your account. So this system works like any other contactless payment system, including your credit card when you use the chip in it to just tap on a payment screen to pay. It requires no charging. It requires no power. It's with you whenever you wear your watch. It's cool.

Contactless Chip Pay Built Right Into the Band
TIMEX Contactless Payment Ironman Men's Watch with Timex Pay Color: Ironman Classic 30 38mm This is a classic Ironman watch with contactless autopay chip in the band. The watchband works just like your credit card does that it is equipped with contactless chip pay. Since it is the same chip technology that is already in the card, it doesn't require anything like an internet connection to work. Just use it with any credit card machine that takes contactless chip payment. You will need to download the TIMEX pay app and have a compatible credit card which includes Chase Visa credit/debit or the Amazon Prime Visa Card. I just got my timex IRONMAN watch today and I am disappointd that the screen has long streaks of scatches on it. There was no protective clear plastic on the screen to protect it. Usually brand new watches have a clear protective barrier plastic on the screens. Elsewhere on the watch has some tiny scratches in many places. I am certain it has been worn before. Can`t prove it but it is disturbing to even see skin residue inside the wrist band. You know when you have used your watch for a long time and tiny skin residue builds up inside the holes of the wrist band. That is what I see. I will still keep it because it works well but I am disappointed.
