It’s a rough one for my OCD
First thing husband said was “wish they were plastic instead of cardboard.” They seem sturdy enough. Will update as I have 2 children ages 4 and 2. The newly turned 2 year old got these for her birthday along with 4 other gifts. I’d say this one is in the top 2 of what she gravitates towards to play with. Terrible for my OCD. Counting all these.... pieces and one or three come up missing. Gotta find them all, tear the house apart. I had to package these up and put them on a shelf until their play room is cleaner. I prefer to play with her with these so that we don’t lose parts. She loves opening them and dumping them all out into one bin. Then, I line up the cans and hand her one and ask her which can it goes it. We count and do colors. Got this to add to her grocery store once she’s a little more tidy. Ha! Super adorable. The kidney beans are giant, but the rest is perfect.

Not what I expect but we’re pleased
Really disappointed in the quality. I justify paying their prices because their quality is usual awesome and I know they will last through all of my children playing with them. This set I don’t think will last very long through one child. Unfortunately he saw the package and we opened it together and he was too excited and started counting the items. There were only two peaches in the can so I’m waiting for a replacement. I also ordered a pot and pan set that were not the quality I expect from learning resources but I paid significantly less for that so I’m not too upset about it. The price for these counting cans even marked down was pretty high. But with the 100+ other food items we have by then I was willing to pay the high price especially because the counting aspect of it and they’re all plant food unlike the alphabet set that has animal products. But it is not the same quality the other food items are. The cans are not very sturdy so I’m not sure how long they’ll last either. This might would be better for an older age limit and while supervised to insure the products don’t get ruined. Update: after several months of regular pay they have held up just fine. We pull them out for educational play, sorting, matching and counting. The pieces have withstood the occasional toddler gnawing and the cans are sturdy enough to survive toddlers pressing the lids back on. We have half a dozen learning resources sets with well over 200+ pieces and even though we initially were skeptical of this set we are very pleased with their products. They can be pricey but they regularly mark down sets either way they are well worth it.

Fun counting toy
My son loves play foods and this set is one of his favorites. He was so excited to discover foods in each can and I love that it can help him learn to count.

Cute play food in cans
Got these as a gift for my niece in her play kitchen. They were the only toy cans I could find that had play food inside, much more exciting than empty cans. She is only a toddler, and I know they can double as a counting game as she get a bit older. All the cans had the correct amount of items. As others have commented the kidney beans are larger than life size, but I think that makes them less of a choking hazard for small children. A little pricey, but the food items are fairly realistic and for the actual number of items, fairly comparable to other food play sets. Picture shows each of the items compared to the size of a US quarter coin for reference.

My grand-daughter made this happy little chuckle noise as soon as she pulled off ...
My grand-daughter made this happy little chuckle noise as soon as she pulled off the wrapping paper and saw these! Opening and closing the silver-colored rubber lids is easy even for a 2-year-old, and the semi-soft plastic fruits and veggies are just plain fun to handle. She enjoyed dumping the cans and refilling them, but the pieces are so nice to touch, she didn't rush through it either. These are great for (a) dumping and filling (so popular with toddlers), but also for sorting shapes (and mixing them gloriously--pickles and peaches together! Who knew!); and now she's counting and uses them for that (1 tomato goes in can #1; 2 pickles go in can #2, etc.) Ours came with 1 of the mushrooms missing. We kept meaning to write and tell the company. They're a good company and I KNOW they would have sent us another mushroom, but we just never got around to it. Anyway, you might want to count contents when you get them; but again, Learning Resources is a great place, so the missing mushroom was, I'm betting, an extremely rare fluke. And I think they'd happily send you any replacements! I think a lot of this toy. I'd buy it for any little kiddo!

MISSING BEANS
Set is great, but the can of 9 beans only had 6 inside. This is a big deal since my grandson is very particular about learning and counting which was the whole reason I ordered this for him! Now it is confusing for him since the number on the can doesn't match with counting the beans. The only option I was given was to return the entire set and risk gettting a new one that may have missing pieces as well.

My kids love
I am so very glad this set didn't come with card board Pictures like my alphabet soup cans. They were a disappointment but these make up for it. My kids love dumping the cans into there many places.

Great Learning Toy
Right now I am really focused on finding fun ways to help my son (34 months) really learn his numbers, along with how to count. He often says he wants to count things and usually goes, "1, 2, 3, 5, 10." Sometimes other numbers get jumbled in, and often he mixes up 3's and 5's, and 6's and 9's. We paid just under $30 for the counting cans, and while I agree that it is a little pricey, I cannot say anything bad about the toy itself. The cans are about the size of a standard soup can, the lids are easily removed, but stay on well too, the items inside are visually appealing and easily identifiable to my child, and the colors are vibrant. He was immediately interested in the toy and eager to count the objects inside each can. We have only had this toy a short time, but it is definitely a hit with my son, and it is already encouraging him to want to count even more. Additionally, given the vibrant colors, this would probably be good for teaching colors as well. Definitely a great toy that actually teaches.

Fantastic item
On the expensive side but brilliant fun, my toddler adores them. If you’re unsure I’d definitely say purchase them. There’s so many ways to learn with these.

Learning resources is the best company!!!
Awesome and so cute! My kids love these. Lhey are the same size as real cans. Very solid cans and the food in them isnt that super thin bendable plastic. My kids have tried to chew on them and they dont squish like the garbage brands. The food in it is mostly realistic size too except kidney beans the are a bit larger. But its a good thing because that the can with a higher number on ot so there are many of them to lose if they were smaller. I love learning resources. They are my go to for all toys! This set is fun to learn numbers, counting and food types. It also is such a cute set to have for a play kitchen. My kids have so much fun dumping the food into pots to cook!! Zero negative here

Awesome toy!!!
I love, love, love this toy. It is so cute and my son doesn't realize he is learning. He loves naming the fruits and veggies and loves sorting the cans. He doesn't really count yet (everything is 2 lol), but he loves sorting all the different kids of fruit while he listens to me count. The pieces are a great size, and mine didn't smell at all, like some of the other reviews I had read. My son has no trouble taking off the lids or putting them back on. He just turned two. The only thing that could be a problem is the cardboard cans. I could see them getting smushed by a child who is a little hard on their toys, but my son is good at playing quietly so that isn't a problem for us. I see us getting a lot of different uses out of this toy as he gets older. :D
