Large, sturdy magnifiers that are perfect for small hands and rough play.

I bought these for my child's pre-school class. They arrived in well packaged, and the box in which the magnifiers are in converts to a stand to hold them. This is a convenient plus for the classroom. The magnifiers come in a variety of primary colors and are the perfect size for small hands. They have a large surface area and handle. There is a built-in stand that allows the user to flip the magnifier upside down and balance it. (It looks sort of like an upside down "Y.") This is great for small children who are still developing their dexterity and cannot coordinate holding an item and a magnifier at the same time. The stand allows them to set up the magnifier and then slide an item behind it to examine it through the magnifier (similar to a microscope). The magnifiers are made of a durable material and have held up well to the rough play and use of pre-schoolers. Excellent product, Learning Resources! EDIT: I'm editing my review b/c my original review was for the PRODUCT alone not THIS company. I ordered this product August 24, 2012. An hour or so later I received an email stating they were on backorder! Although they still stated they had 3 available at the time. I figured this was a mistake. They said it would be a few weeks, I said I would wait. I got them for a good price! It is now 9/7/2012 and after receiving only two replies, with as minimum wording as possible, they added 9 products that are still "backordered" and plan on sending me mine when it comes in. They refuse to mention a date! They are NOT taking down the availability. This is a warning to people dealing with THIS company." The product is great, this company is VERY unprofessional, irresponsible and rude. 9/15/2012 - STILL NO PRODUCT and little communication "I'll get back to you" from supplier. BEWARE of this seller! My 2 year old son loves his Jumbo Magnifiers by Learning Resources! These get used on a daily basis for everything from examining a bug, signs, nature, "reading a menu"... the possibilities are ENDLESS! It has a built in stand which is perfect for when he needs two hands to position an object under it. The cousins and play-date buddies absolutely love these, so buying a set of 12 was ideal for my household. They come in six different colors Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple... everyone always has a favorite color! I suggest getting Learning Resources Gator Grabber Tweezers with these!

wouldn't be without this product for babies, toddlers and older explorers. over time and with heavy use (and they do get heavy use as children use them constantly and with great imagination!) the lens may get a little scratched but the price is reasonable enough for them to be replaced after a year or so in a nursery or childcare setting. The stands are useful for older children to examine particular objects. Babies are fascinated by the views of faces and eyes and toddlers are delighted and fascinated to explore indoors and outdoors, textures, patterns, print and detail in natural and manufactured materials - cognitive skills are greatly enhanced and the natural curiosity of young children is stimulated by this essential piece of sturdy, well designed and fairly priced equipment. if you are caring for more than one child make sure you purchase several for your budding scientists.

Great educational toys...or for a toddler to solve a mystery!

We have been looking at building our daughters toy box and adding educational toys that will out live her toddler tandtrums and days and this jumbo magnifying glass is the best as it ticks all the right boxes. It's educational-for when you want to explore around your park and find daisies, it's well built and chunky enough for little handles to comfortably handle plus the reasonable price tag makes it a better buy off Amazon that in leading High Street shops. You get a random colour sent to you-but to be honest that shouldn't be off putting as all the colours look vibrant in the photos provided. And when your child is bored of the educational factor they can turn into a detective-bonus.

Seems Sturdy enough

Grand children love using my magnifyer so decided to get them one of their own. After reading reviews, decided on this one. The children love it, although I found the 'stand' difficult to open & shut, I was afraid of breaking it. It remains to be seen how long it will last in their hands, which is why it only gets 4 stars at the moment.
