Flimsy build?

We are an avid outdoors family and use a number of chamber vac sealers and smaller counter tops models. We store tons of meats (store-bought as well as wild game) and seafood (fresh fish, shrimp, etc). Meaning: we have years of experience with vac sealers. Decided we need another counter top model for our second home. The big chamber models are best sealers by far but require dedicated space. Countertops like this are more practical for typical home use. Easy to store, small footprint. We bought this unit — a trusted name. Not impressed with the construction. Sadly disappointed. It’s flimsy. Locking lever feels like it will break any moment. Exterior is almost ALL plastic. So don’t let the reference to “Stainless Steel” mislead (we were aware of that, wanted to point it out for others). However, most countertop units in this class are built similarly. The unit DOES have great vacuum power. It pulls vac quickly and seals very good. Yes!! What we DO like is the fundamental vacuum circuit design — its less likely to suck-in liquids. This unit has the suction point high ABOVE the vacuum tray bottom where fluids can accumulate. It actually recesses up inside a cavity in the lid once latched closed. BIG plus. This design helps mitigate chances of liquids entering into the innermost vac circuitry. Not-so-good: The vacuum chamber where the mouth of your bag goes is located deep inside the unit (3-1/2”). That’s ~ 1/3 of your 12” quart size bag. The seal bar is also further in. Meaning you will use more bag than some other models. Result is an extra long “flap” section of bag. But to be fair that does help when working with wet items as you are less likely to draw fluid up through the bag mouth which may interfere with sealing (wet bags won’t seal properly) and can enter the inner vac circuit (messy and sooner-or-later stinky). The date stamp is cute but kinda useless (the one on our unit actually works). As you accumulate items in freezer they get buried and in that case you can’t see the tiny, near-invisible embossed date. Sharpie pen is best for marking bags. So don’t buy this because of the date stamp feature. Roll bag storage and cutter is so-so. Units we are familiar with all have roll bag pros/cons. Thus this is a wash in comparison. Besides, we usually scissor cut our bags anyway. Quicker, less hassle. And the accessory option is a no go. We have yet to find the accessory kit, not even at Westonbrands.com site. These kits are used for sealing jars, reusable vac sealer ziplock-type bags. Not a show stopper for us. Helpful hints based on other reviews: - The power plug DOES interface nicely with the bottom base when in use or for storage. Just be sure cord is routed properly. - The useless vacuum tube also fits inside the base with the bags rolls. - Do NOT use above vacuum tube (the tube with green and grey ends) when using your bags in normal vac operation. Plugging the tube in opens a port and reroutes suction from the inner vac chamber to that tube plug; you’ll just be sucking air. The hose is meant ONLY for use if/when using the aforementioned mysterious accessory kit. Bottom-line it’s a very functional vac unit and, after all, that’s most important. That is key for us. We’ll be careful when handling so as not not damage it. We will stick with this unit but are concerned it may not hold-up over time.

Works Great!

This is a great vacuum sealer and it definitely spoils the user with all its features! The only thing that doesn't work very well is the advertised date press. It doesn't always get a good print on the bag and can sometimes mess up the vacuum by sealing the bag shut before it begins to vacuum. Other than that, this has been a game changer when it comes to vacuum sealing things!

Could be labeled better

It was pretty easy to set up but instructions could’ve been a little more detailed. Also the vacuum chamber could be labeled better. I messed up the first wet seal bc I didn’t realize where the chamber was.

It vacuums and seals quite well

This WESTON BRANDS Wet & Dry Vacuum Sealer Machine arrived well packaged and appears to be constructed of good quality materials. In addition to the sealer, a plastic base for storing rolls of sealer material, 3 sizes of sealing materials, and an accessory tube for use with containers. Setup is simple, but the base is not very intuitive to use. I chose not to use the base for every situation, but it does make sealing liquids a bit easier. Sealing a bag requires locking a lever on the lid of the sealer after inserting the bag. A lighted progress bar lets you know when the process is completed. I was very satisfied with the vacuum sealing performance. One of the more unique features of this sealer is that it can optionally place date stamps on the bags during the sealing process. I tried this feature several times and it does work when activated, but the date stamps are often difficult to read. Overall, this is a good vacuum sealer. I would recommend this as a good vacuum sealer for everyday household use.

I wouldn't buy the dam thing again and I will never buy anything with the name on it of ( " WESTON " ) I've found out the thing is a real peace. of cramp and I don't mind telling anyone so and tell them not to buy .

This vacuum sealer is pretty good. It's very quick and easy to set up. A couple minutes with the instruction manual and your on your way to sealing things away. It vacuum power is great and the sealer works perfectly. The include bag rolls work great too. The storage section underneath the machine is much appreciated!

Great Vacuum Sealer

This vacuum sealer does a fantastic job. Like several other reviewers noted, the vacuum's performance is great. It handles wet and dry foods very well, and the seal is wide and thorough. It's a significant upgrade over the entry-level vacuum sealers that I've owned in my life. I have no complaints, although I will agree with some of the other reviews that say the date stamp feature is gimmicky. It works, but it's hard to read. I was back on markers pretty quickly. Still, this is a fantastic unit. I love it!!

Very disappointed

I've used this for about 20 bags over the last 3 days. Ive reached out to seller to return and no response. First it would seal before it vacuumed. So i woukd purge manually then seal. Now it won't seal at all.
