Disappointed it didn't work with my Baby Lock

The Singer Ruffler foot fit on my 29-year old Baby Lock Companion BL 2150, but was too low for me to fit the fabric through. Have to return it. Bummer.

Know before you sew!

This foot was purchased for a very specific task, creating a bride’s table cover and skirt. It would be difficult to describe all of the features to understand about this ruffler foot. If you plan to use it, find a good video so that you can see where to insert your fabric, that you learn how to ruffle and attach to another fabric at the same time (if needed), and that you MUST slow down your sewing speed or you will break needles. Before sewing with the foot you MUST check your needle alignment to be sure it will not strike the ruffler. The reason to slow down is to allow the slider plate to push the fabric and retract before the needle comes back down to secure the pleat/ruffle. I practiced on several samples to get both the size of the pleats and the frequency of pleating to my satisfaction. I worked with almost 30 yards of Tulle applied to 6 yards of chiffon. It came out beautiful but it was a lot like wrangling cats. I’m sure working on a clothing item would be much less difficult and produce great results. I’m really happy that I had the opportunity to learn to use this tool and I might find a place for its capabilities in one of my future quilt or craft projects.

At First I Didn’t Think It Fit My Singer Heavy Duty 4432...but it does

Things I learned that might help: 1. I initially thought this didn’t fit my Singer HD 4432 because my needle was hitting the plate. What I realized was that my needle position needed to be adjusted. I’m not talking about the left center right adjustment but the fact that on the center position my needle was too far left. Went to YouTube and found what I needed to open the machine and true it up. 2. When you’re ready to try it out, make sure the presser foot is down. It’s not as obvious with the size of the foot so... 3. Practice on scraps. Do a lot of practice. 4. There’s a lady on YouTube that had a great tutorial showing how changing the number of stitches per gather, the depth of the gathers AND the selected stitch length selected work together to determine how the gathers/pleats will look. Good luck!

Has potential - very little recent training materials that reflect newer parts/setup

This is a frustrating tool that shows a LOT of potential as a gathering and pleating enthusiast. However, the Singer videos and instruction all show older models that differ from the current version. I'm on the fence as to whether this provides more value than stress. I really wish it has more accurate guidance and instruction.

A good foot for a good machine.

Okay so I bought a generic version of this for my old machine and it broke needle after needle after needle. The machine was limping along anyways so I am not sure if it was the machine or the foot. So, I get my new machine and was terrified to get a new ruffler foot. I needed it, so I decided to get the name brand. The new machine does such a great job, I figured it deserved a name brand ruffler foot. This one worked great. It has multiple settings that are as simple as moving a lever. It does exactly what it is supposed to do and it doesn't break needles. That was the best part. The pleats are perfectly even and easy to iron and work with when done. I am glad I went with this foot. This is a personal note. If you are used to sewing straight lines and you are pretty fast with it, this will teach you to SLOW DOWN!!!!!! I make a lot of pet products and there are lots and lots of straight lines and easy stitching. I am pretty fast when I am making over 200 bandanas at a time. You can't go fast with this foot. You have to take your time. This foot will attempt to teach you patience. I say attempt because it is agonizing for me to sew this slow...but I am not giving up. I will learn to take my time. I will, I swear.

Take it slow

I noticed if I stitch faster it’s more likely to skip a pleat/gather. Slow and steady is better. It’s so amazing otherwise, I’m glad I purchased it and can’t believe I didn’t do it sooner honestly. It’s really changed my gather game and skirts are easier than I’ve ever sewn them.

Great product for medium/heavyweight fabrics only

Great product & works well per Singer's usual quality. However, if you are working with sheer or very lightweight fabrics, such as cotton voile, do NOT get this foot. It will jam inside the bobbin compartment. This is for use with medium to heavy fabrics only. For lighterweight fabrics, get the Singer gathering foot instead or use a fork/tine pleater or pleater board.

A godsend!

The ruffler took a bit of getting used to, but once I got the hang of it, it made life -so- much easier! I've made a test petticoat with it already, and now I'm moving onto my big project: 20 yards ruffled down into a three layer, two tier petticoat! It's gonna go much smoother!

Overpriced.

The price was kind of ridiculous. I have yet to use it as I've been so busy but I suspect it will be everything I wanted.
