Great protection; somewhat uncomfortable after 4+ hours

UPDATE: easier cleaning! It fits perfectly inside the EVLA'S UV Sterilizer Box!! I've done a couple full-day test runs. It is heavy, so my neck aches after a few hours, but I'm sure my muscles will grow. The great things: 1. I'm able to wear my headphones and mic on top of this mask and my students say they can hear me clearly (we're doing a hybrid model so I'm talking to kids on-screen and in-class simultaneously). Kids sitting at the back of the class can't hear me too well, but I tell them to put on their headphones and join the Zoom on their chromebooks which solves the problem. 2. I feel like I can breathe better in this than a fabric mask and it stays in place SO much better. 3. I can wear a fabric headband to keep my hair away from the seal with no added discomfort. 4. I feel much safer in this (with the p100 filters I added) than in any fabric or KN-95 mask available. I have a friend at a prestigious medical school and she agrees it's probably my safest option. The down-sides I have probably wouldn't pertain to anyone using this for its true INTENDED use, so they really aren't complaints about the product's quality. It's probably top-notch for what it's meant for! But for others looking to use this to avoid COVID: 1. Biggest problem is that the plate at the back of the head starts to really hurt after about 4 hours. I'm going to experiment with padding and will update later. 2. It IS ventilated so others are not protected from YOU when you wear this mask. I'm going to try taping some cotton over the front vent to try and filter my exhales a bit; granted, it's still probably better than some of the ill-fitting fabric masks my coworkers / students wear as it does at least force your breath downward (and not out the side gaps that most fabric masks end up having), so theoretically most virus particles you might be releasing would not be expelled at someone's face (but please don't use this mask if you think you are already sick--STAY HOME!). If taping fabric over the front vent causes fogging, some SCUBA mask defogger will probably do the trick. I'll update once I've tried it. 3. My neck gets really sore from the wait after a few hours, too, but I'm sure this will improve as my muscles strengthen over time. Get yourself some icy-hot and tylenol if you plan to wear it all day. 4. The instructions are obviously written for people who know how to use these, or have someone to instruct them on it. Figuring out what filter would trap something 0.01-0.03 microns took some serious guesswork and research. I went with the magenta 3M 60923 filters. 5. Science teachers- it's too bulky to fit into your UV Goggle Sterilizing cabinet, so you've got to hand-wash it. Hey... I could dream. So far I wipe it down with alcohol pads and hope for the best. My med school friend recommends bleach wipes but they've been hard to come by. None of that is why I took away a star. I'm using the mask for COVID protection, which is not the manufacturer's intended use--most of these problems therefore aren't their fault. I deducted one star because it was unclear to me whether or not filters were included (they are not) and looking back at the questions it seems other people were also unclear on this. Also, though it says it's compatible with PPR blowers/systems (which I'm interested in adding) it's unclear in the instructions which PPR blower would work or where to get it. Trying to figure out the right size was also a gamble (but I guessed right). I'm a 5'4" tall female, about 130lbs, and wear the small.

It is not different from its previous version, I work as a mold inspector and its straps annoy a bit ... it is very engonomic so you have to order a size larger than normal

Best Mask Ever

I can’t say anything about the test of time since I’ve only had this mask for a week. I feel like it’s saving my life I’m working on project that requires a huge amount of sanding. With a regular mask and glasses I was getting so much sawdust in my eyes and everywhere else. This mask doesn’t fog up, I can breathe, it’s fairly comfortable. I don’t get sawdust in my eyes or my lungs. I can blow it off with the air hose then I’m good to go. I love it it’s the best purchase I have ever made in regards to woodworking. This is also the best safety mask that I have ever owned.

Unfiltered Exhaled air

It’s a great FF respirator BUT in this time of wanting to protect yourself and others during the pandemic, it’s basically useless because there is no filter for the wearer’s exhaled breath. If I can’t find a filter to add to the inside then I will have to return it.

Comfort

If you wear a full or half-mask at work, you know about the headaches that come with extended wear. This is the most comfortable respirator I have ever worn. Asbestos and lead abatement require extended respirator wear. Since I have started wearing this FF-401 I have not had a respirator induced headache. This is great.

I didn't know I had to order the cartridges and filters separately. Mask is wonderful!
