Maybe it was a fluke, probably just got one out of a million defective reel

So over this winter I stocked up for summer fishing because I had nothing else to do really. I bought two of these reels because I liked the way that they looked and for that amount of money I thought for sure these would be quality built reels, I’ve used them about 10-12 times so far this year fishing for channel catfish just waiting for my flatheads to start moving. I’ve been extremely careful with these reels especially since they’re attached to brand new whisker seeker rods, I’m not trying to break anything before the real fishing starts. But the other day I was out fishing with a buddy my poles were baited and casted out sitting in pole holders just waiting for a bite. After a bit finally one was serious enough to take it down and I use circle hooks so I left my rod in the holder and began to reel down on this fish knowing it wasn’t a very big one but didn’t want to miss it so I reeled down hard and about two turns worthy the handle the entire reel popped off of its seat. I’ve never been more disappointed in my gear before. Up until I bought these I used Walmart rod and reel combos and cabelas combos and I have never had an issue.

Paper work missing.

I have half a dozen Abu reels. They have ALWAYS come with reel oil a wrench and a booklet. None of these items with this reel. Makes me wonder if it it a refurbished reel. It seems like it is new so I am happy with the reel BUT for $240.00 I would expect the full package.

Different color than the pictures

I bought this thinking it was a blue color from the pictures, when i opened the box it's more of a greyish color. It's still a nice reel but not the color i was wanting.

WAY OVERPRICED - Much better out there for 1/4 the price

Guys who buy these run 70k boats , $100 rods & only catch 10lb fish. Don't be suckered into buying these overpriced reels. Look at ancient Mariner , Daiwa Sealine, Shimano Triton or bass pro catmaxx unless you are trying to blow money & look like a newb
