Lovely clock

We had an antique mantel clock that would do the Westminster chimes on the quarter hours and count the hours. Through the years, it needed visits to the clock repairman who has since retired. Needless to say, the clock couldn't be repaired anymore as it's hard to find such talented people. And, sadly the clock did get damaged beyond repair. So, we started looking for a replacement, and found this Bulova. Saw that it had several options for chiming and ran on batteries - no springs to break! Ordered it and it arrived as promised. The set up for the chimes went easily. After settling on the Westminster chimes, we let it run for a while. We had to turn off the quarter hour chimes as it appeared to not be programmed by the factory properly....it should have played just part of the tune at each quarter hour. It operated correctly for the first and second quarter hour. However, at the third quarter hour, the entire tune played instead of just 3 quarters of the tune. Did that for about 3 hours and we ended up turning that off. Too bad. Anyway, after adjusting the volume and setting the chimes for just the hour, we are enjoying it! One feature on the clock that we absolutely love is the Sleep Mode! It chimes for the last time at 10pm and stays quiet until 6am! Great!! And, as long as the batteries are good, it has been keeping excellent time! Still not our old antique, but we are enjoying it very much!

Love it

I love this clock. Looks great and is accurate. I would recommend that when you are setting the time, go slowly and allow the clock to go through its hourly song and chimes completely before moving the hands around to the next hour, otherwise it will get chiming all messed up. For instance, I didnt allow it to play it's tune and finish the chimes as I went around the clock to set the time. End result, it would chime 8 times at 2:00 and so on. Had to remove batteries and start all over. But its back on track now and I really do love the looks of this clock. I just wish it had an optional light in the face. Hard to see at night. OH, and I didnt like the setting that chimes every 15 minutes. It would also be great if there was a setting that chimed on the hour and one quick chime on the half hour, but the setting on this clock for the half hour part also include every quarter hour. I couldnt take that. LOL.

It's nice to have because if I'll not around to see the time when this goes off I can hear it chime and know the time plus I love clocks like this.

Beautiful Tambour Clock

I LOVE this clock!! I purchased a Howard Miller cherry tambour clock several years ago that was too big. I believe it was 17" or 18" wide and it had Roman numerals. It was just too big and after a few years I donated it to charity. Not wanting to make the same mistake again I made a template of the Bulova Asheville and looked at it for 2-3 weeks before deciding it was the right size. I believe it is 14" wide, not as tall as the Howard Miller, not as deep,, and it has analog numbers. I absolutely, absolutely love this clock, and it has a beautiful chime.

Really beautiful

The media could not be loaded. I wanted a clock to add to the beauty of my new home. I’m delighted with this battery operated clock. I can choose between two tunes. It give me the option to not chime during sleeping hours. I can ask it to chime on the hour, or half hour, or every quarter hour. Of course it only plays it’s tune at the hour mark. This is a beautiful addition to our home. Even the back and inside of the clock is a piece of wonderful workmanship. I’m glad I bought this piece.

Lovely Clock but Chimes ALWAYS Incorrect

This is a lovely clock and keeps very accurate time. However, the chimes are wild and out of sync. The chimes on the quarter hour are always incorrect. Chimes for the hour count are also always incorrect. You never know what the chimes will do. The hour chimes rarely ring more the eight times. The quarter hour chimes usually chime more than they should. So I guess that I will turn them off. The sound of the chimes is not great but okay. Just always incorrect.

Looks great, good quality

It's a little complicated to energize and set it up, but not too bad. It is solidly built, has some weight to it, the wood looks great and seems to be keeping very accurate time. It would be nice to be able to stop it from chiming the number of times for each hour it's passing, at each hour, and just have a simple chime so you hear it has passed the hour. Also it would be nice to have a few more chime choices (only 3). But overall we are very happy with the clock.

Beautiful clock with chimes.

Always wanted a chiming clock, finally built a fireplace with mantel to put one on! This clock was a problem for me at first could not get it to chime, do not over insert your size C batteries.

Dissapointed

It's beautiful but arrived broken. Exactly what I wanted which makes it unfortunate that it arrived broken and repairable. As it was a gift I am disappointed I didn't inspect it better before I wrapped it.
