Works well; wish it had a battery charge level indicator while in use.

I bought this because it had a removable weighing tray and rechargeable battery. It works well; weighs to 0.5 g and is easy to read. My major complaint is that it does not have a battery charge level indicator light. This can result in the scale running out of charge in the middle of weighing items. The display will then display “Lo” and and the scale must be plugged in to recharge before weighing may resume. This wouldn’t be quite such a problem except for the fact that you can not weigh items while it is plugged in and charging. This means that if the battery dies in the middle of weighing a series of items you must plug it in for a moment to get a quick bit of charge, unplug to finish weighing your items, then plug in again to finish charging (which seems to take at least a couple of hours).

Great scale, bad buttons

Removable tray is extremely convenient. The scale appears quite accurate, but the text on the four buttons is not colored, just raised. Kinda have to memorize which one does what. Overall, highly recommended for the price.

Small & light, easy to use & accurate but the four control buttons are impossible for me to read!

This is a small, compact scale -- good for not taking up too much valuable space. I have purchased many different types of Taylor thermometers and several different scales (analog and digital) over the years and it has always been a trusted brand for me. I've always been very pleased with the quality and longevity of their products. My current kitchen is battery operated, but I never seem to have fresh batteries on hand when needed & I really liked the idea of a rechargeable unit. I ordered this one to use for soap making, but it isn't quite large enough for my purposes. It will handle the weight easily enough, but the bulk of the items I want to measure will make viewing the read-out difficult. I don't want to use the hold button and remove the item so, I have co-opted this for the kitchen. I charged the battery before testing the scale; the instruction booklet said this would take about two hours, but it was much faster than that -- probably about 25 minutes or so. There is a small flashing indicator to let me know charging was complete and there is also an indicator for when it will need to be charged again. The USB cord is included but not the outlet module. I find this scale to be quite accurate (I weighed a few items of known weights to check). It gives a precise reading without too much fluctuation. I like the removable tray, which makes it so much easier when dealing with potentially messy items. What I don't particularly care for are the operating buttons -- first of all, I can't read them at all and I had to refer to the picture on the box just to get started. I'll probably add little labels eventually, but for right now, there are just four pieces of tape telling me which button controls the on/off, tare, hold & units. I'm sure I'll remember which is which after using this for a while, but it does seem like something that can be improved. I also don't like the idea that the internal battery cannot be replaced and the unit will need to be disposed of at the end of its useful life (hopefully well in the future). I think this is a well made instrument, and with a little care should last for a long time. The box is a little too big to use for storage (at least in my small kitchen) and boxes never seem to last very long around my house anyway. I have a spot for this to be safely stored in, but it seems that I am the only one capable of returning items to their designated home. I will have to make sure family members don't tuck it away in a cupboard laying on its side or stack items on top if it... The current price of $21.99 seems reasonable (I took off one star because of those darn buttons).

Simple to use

This scale is ideal for home use and it's pretty versatile. Because it has somewhat higher capacity than many kitchen scales, I've actually used this for postage weight as well as cooking. It's much easier to bake by weight, and it's also easier to portion control by weighing things. I don't really think it matters too much that my calories are exactly this or that, but if you get into a diet, these little details help keep you motivated. As for the baking, there's no doubt using a precise scale will give you better results. The scale uses a USB micro cable for power (the plug is included). I like this because I have a few devices that can share that cable, and I never need more than one at a time. There's no need for disposable batteries. But it's also not as portable. If you're getting this to weigh your drugs in the trunk of your car, I guess this scale isn't for you, but also you should stop doing that man. The backlight is handier than you'd think. My house isn't well lit under my kitchen cabinets, giving me space where nothing else really works, but this well lit scale's readout is good. The numbers themselves are large, but the decimal point was difficult to see, as was the units. After using the scale a few times, you know what unit you're using, and you also know where the decimal point should be (making it easier to find). So I'd say it's not excellent in the display, but it's good enough that after being familiar with it, it's easy to use at a glance. Because there's a nice tray, I can zero the scale, move the tray by the cutting board, than replace and get the weight easily. You also don't need to use the tray, so it's pretty easy to weigh items that don't fit perfect on the scale. The construction quality is on the light side. I think it will last for years, but it's definitely intended to stay in place.
