Great Design, Not Durable Enough

I have a very slender 20lb. dog (almost like a greyhound), and got tired of having to re-tighten collars on my dog's neck to make sure they didn't slip off without perpetually choking her, so I decided to try a collar version of the too-thick slip leash someone gave me. I love the leather; it's lightweight so she doesn't mind it, doesn't look too big on my dog's slender neck, and it's not cheaply dyed so it doesn't bleed onto my white dog's fur. The loop is small enough to fit her neck and big enough to just barely get over her head. There are enough rings to clip her tags to one without getting in the way of the function. That being said, I wish the collar was 1/2 inch instead of 1/4 inch, partly because I think it would make it more durable. While the 1/4 inch can support my dog's full bodyweight when she is pulling even if I have stopped walking before her, it seems like the stitching isn't sturdy enough (or hidden enough?) to hold if she scratches or bites at it when slack. The stitching clearly started to pull out after only a week, though somehow the collar itself is still holding together after another week or so--enough so to still use it. Overall, this is a great solution for a smaller dog that pulls, without using an actual chokechain, and especially for a dog with a slender neck who gets cold easily (since chokechains are generally metal). But I'm not sure how long it will last. I'm just hoping it helps her pull less by the time it breaks. She does seem to pull less if she has this collar on than other collars.

It is not the leather as it is described but

so far it is holding up for it’s purpose BUT it is definitely not grain leather and or any other type of typical “collar” leather. It feels very much like some type of cheap synthetic leather. It is working for a very small Chihuahua that only wears it when we go for outings. I wouldn’t trust it getting it wet and or for adventurous play.

This collar is very soft and well made - sadly it was too small for my dog, I have keptit for next puppy.
