Good blower, replaced the one in the picture

Broan makes a good product, i think motor was made in Germany. Replaced the one in the picture with this lower profile Brown unit, 1500 CFM rated, does a better job than this commercial unit which is rated at 1800 CFM. Happy with purchase, 10 inch duct opening required, be careful, edges are sharp.

Powerful no question about it

It will suck water out of the pans if you like... :) not really, but has all the power for the smokiest chef.. if you expect a powerful fan this is one of the only options and it delivers

Massive, and totally over priced

So in my opinion this is an ok product, its just totally over priced for what you’re getting. REMEMBER this is not a fan, in fact its not even close. Its a way to make a whole lot of air escape your house fast and will support bigger fans from an updraft or downdraft system. Problem is because its sooooooo big you will likely need to hide it far away from a normal output from the house. I ended up needing to put it on my roof because its so big. That said I needed to add squirrel fans in several locations to move air all that distance. Again if your in a commercial space and want to really move a lot of air and have a HUGE motor/fan or maybe a hood setup for glass blowing or something you may be fine. But honestly you will not be getting much for the price. I will also say I had to have it altered by a metal smith to reduce the flange because it was massive too. meh....

Great quality. German fan unit in nice stainless enclosure. This is sold as both Best brand and Broan. I believe they are the same unit and Broan are priced at a lower price point on the internet. I installed this with an older Italian Best hood which still looks great but had fan problems with no available parts. Used a Broan elctronic speed control switch. Worked great. This fan is a POWERFULL unit.

I bought this blower for my house, to be installed with 30" Broan Vent hood. The blower turned out to be a lot bigger than I expected (my fault, should have checked dimensions before buying it) and because of this, it's installation would have being a lot more complicated than I planned. The reason why I gave it one star is because of extremely poor installation instruction with respect to electrical connection. The manual says (page #3, see this manual on Broan website): 5. Bring electrical wiring through the hole in the wiring box and secure it according to local codes. 6. Make the electrical connections with the proper con- nector for the type of wire being used. Connect black to black, white to blue, and green or bare wire to grounding screw. If you will follow these instructions, you will end up connecting this blower directly to 120v and it will be always on. I suspect this blower has to be connected to Broan vent hood (which has fan controls, quite nasty controls by the way) and then vent hood should connect to 120v. None of this is mentioned in Broan manual - what a shame. Besides, I do not believe the claim that this blower reduce noise. There are fans on the market that spin silently, though there will still be noise coming from the air movement. So unless this blower will be off all the time (meaning no air flow will be generated), I do not see how it can reduce the noise. I ended up sending both - vent hood and blower back. I bought 30" Vent-A-Hood with double blowers and I am extremely happy with it. Installation was a lot easier that it would have being for Broan blower, fans are silent - only sound of air flow can be heard (not too loud at all). 600 cfm (they claim it is 900cfm equivalent ) turned out to be more than enough for me. Vent-A-Hood quality of the steel and controls is a lot better than Broan VH (a lot harder to leave finger prints on it).
