All Splitters Are Not The Same - Just don't buy something like this unless it is UL listed.

An outlet splitter is a pretty basic device, it lets you plug more stuff into the same outlet. This one is a little more expensive than some of the other choices out there. Buy it anyway. Seriously. When I started shopping for a splitter, I quickly figured out that not everything on Amazon is UL listed, and some of the cheaper options did have complaints about the quality of the internal wiring. That is no small problem. You really, really want to stay clear of anything like that. See, the outlet in the wall and the wiring that runs to it are all rated to a specific, maximum wattage. Exceed the ratings and the circuit breaker pops, so you don't set anything on fire. As long as all of the wiring inside the splitter is likewise rated to that same, maximum wattage, everything will still work as intended and remain safe. But what if the wires inside the splitter are not properly sized to the full, rated load they are supposed to carry? What if you tried to save a bit of money and bought some Chinese piece of junk from a company you have never heard of? Wire is expensive, so undersizing the wire is an easy way for a fly-by-night company to save a bit of money. If they do that to you, you will never know. The wires are all hidden inside the device and everything will still seem to work fine. That is unless/until you start pulling a lot of watts out of the splitter for an extended period of time. Then it will get hot, then it will get hotter, then it will eventually catch on fire. This is a name brand option which is UL listed. It would not pass UL certification if the wires inside it weren't properly sized. That means it is not going to burn your house down if you plug a space heater, coffee maker or toaster oven into it. That is why you want this one, even if it is a bit more expensive, and even though the built-in USB ports are just 1 amp, meaning they will charge your phone very slowly.

GE 3-Outlet Extender Surge Protector

I bought two of these. One for my bedroom and one in the living room. So far they work fine. I like having the extra outlets available, and a plug-in wall unit is nice instead of having the long surge strips everywhere. Surge protection is a must if you have a lot of electronics and these work great.

Delivers what it promises

After reading some of the reviews about the “strong” blue light, I was concerned but, it’s a bit of an exaggeration of the other reviewers... unless you have it right next to your eyes or face. It’s sleek, stays flush to wall, I’ve only had it for a week but it seems that it’s doing it’s job. And the price is not bad, so If recommend and buy another one.

These are great for my guest bedrooms.

Well thought out, very convenient for my guests, and aren't as big and bulky as other brands. I appreciate that it keeps the other plug outlet available. All my guests keep asking where they can get one. And the GE brand is something I'm familiar with and trust.

Doesn't charge very fast

I like the charger and the blue light isn't as bright as some say. I just find that it doesn't charge as fast as other chargers I have, so I use it to charge overnight.

Recomiendo este device

Funciona de maravilla y el cargador USB trabaja sin problemas cargando productos apple y android. Lo único que no me gusta es que queda un poco flojo en el enchufe de la pared. Así que cada vez que conecto o desconecto algo, tengo que sujetar este maravilloso device electrico. Definitivamente lo compraría otra vez.

Multicontacto eficiente.

Me gustó el precio, me sorprendió lo eficiente que es la carga de los enchufes usb, el costo es mínimo en comparación con otros multicontactos y vale la pena comprar al menos dos para tenerlos regados por casa.
