Aesthetically pleasing and functional

The media could not be loaded. I prefer the wood look; metal baby gates aren’t very physically appeasing in my opinion, so options were slim. I also knew that I wanted something hardware mounted to avoid stubbed toes on the bottom bar, widen usable pathway, and provide additional stability. This gate checks all of the boxes. I was concerned after reading lots of reviews that the gate was difficult to open, doesn’t lock appropriately, that it wasn’t sturdy, or that it was loud but I don’t find any of this to be true. I’m able to open it easily with one hand, and the handle that unlocks it is so simple my 5 year old can do it without help (but my 2 year old cannot, which serves its purpose). Also, as long as it’s installed appropriately and everything lines up, it’s really easy to close and lock. It’s sturdy enough to withstand my 2 year old shaking because he wants up or down the stairs, as well as regular use. The kids go up and down the stairs constantly and it works perfectly well. Lastly, I don’t find it to be loud at all. There is a “click” whenever it is locked appropriately but otherwise I feel that it functions without excessive noise. I also love that it can be easily removed, if necessary, to move furniture etc. Install was also really simple. I do consider myself to be pretty handy, but I was able to install it with no help and didn’t have any issues. I’m a perfectionist, so I do recommend using a level at each step to ensure that everything is nice and straight. This will not only make everything look nice, but also makes it more functional and will help avoid issues mentioned by other reviewers. In order to make sure everything lined up correctly, I installed the hinge side first, then the gate itself, then the lock side, checking throughout that everything was nice and level. I feel that doing it this way, as opposed to putting up the gate last, allowed me to really ensure that everything lined up well and to avoid making unnecessary holes in the wall. I’m very happy with this purchase, and would buy again.

Banister gate

I love this product.eaay to assemble and doesn't need a drilling unless it's a area like a wall the required. I went through 4 different kinds of gate before I found this one and this has to be the best for every parents! Rate #10

Great looking and sturdy child gate.

This wood gate looks good and attaches easily without nails or screws IF you are attaching it to wooden posts on both sides. I had to cut off about 1/2 inch of steel on one side as that post had a turn in of the banister before heading downstairs.

Perfect to keep infants safe

Bought this product to keep our baby away from the stairs. Works very well and is very secure once mounted.

Works for a double banister

I had trouble with a sturdy double banister gate and this one is doing the job perfectly. It has ratchet straps so that you don't have to screw into the banister's, If you don't want to. But we had to screw into the banister anyway. The way my banisters are set up, as you can see in the picture, the length of the poles didn't reach both top and bottom of my banisters together, so my gate is actually off of the floor. However it still meets the bottom step. Because the pole wasn't touching the floor, even the ratched style straps weren't enough to hold tightly so we ended up having to put one screw in the top into the banister on each side. It's a one hand squeeze to latch open or close. The gate does not open far enough to go flat against a wall or leave a hallway open. It's very easily removed out of its hinges if you need to take it off completely for any reason. My grandson hasn't even bothered with this one or even tried to figure it out.

Gate

We use this to keep the toddler from falling down the stairs but it also keeps some of the adults from using the stairs. The mechanism to open it can be difficult to use. I do like the fact that the gate swings both ways. It also looks very nice which is very important as it is permanently mounted to our stairs.

Perfect for top of stairs

The instructions were easy to follow and this product is perfect for a top of the stairs baby gate option. There is no bar along the bottom of the gate, so I feel confident that no one is going to trip.

Does not work with round banisters

These gates look nice, but they should really mention that they only work with square banisters. Seems like a pretty important thing to mention.
