Best electric blanket I've ever owned - Cats approved too!

I've owned & used an old electric blanket for some 35 years and it was finally time to get it replaced since it was becoming threadbare in places. It was a nice analog relic from the mid-1980's. As you can imagine, I was picky about what would replace it. I'm well past college age now and needed a king size. I bought this one after looking at reviews that said it was rated the best and safest of 2020-2021. I really preferred beige since that was the color of the previous one, but I chose red, even though the picture looked a bit bright for our room. I was impressed that when it's on the bed, the color appears a darker, deeper red and not as bright as the photo. This is good, since I didn't want the blanket to glow in the room. :D As I was plugging it in and putting it on the bed, I could not see, much less even feel the wires inside the blanket. I also noticed when sleeping that the wires are completely undetectable. It's a thick 100% polyester, colorfast, and breathable fabric. I would not have known I was sleeping under an electric blanket, except for the fact that it warms up nicely within a minute or so if you put it on high. I have a bunch of cats in my house (not voluntarily, I might add LOL!) and they all appreciate the warmth. I usually use it on the lowest setting in Winter to just barely add some warmth and it's perfect for this purpose. For those who can't sleep with any lights in their room at night, the electric controllers only have a tiny 1.5cm x 1 cm window showing the controller's heat level (LO, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, HI). The display glows light red. It's barely perceptible and my alarm clock is much brighter. If you really wanted to, it could be easily covered with a sticky note to dim or eliminate the glow. Overall, I'm very pleased with this blanket and so are the cats!

Best heated blanket I've owned

The last time I purchased this heated blanket was 11 years ago. One side finally went out last night. I never would've thought it would last this long. Every other one I've purchased in the past only lasted 2 to 3 years. I just purchased another one of these today. I've always machined washed in cold water and dried on the lowest heat setting. I turn it on about an hour before I go to bed and either turn it off or set to LO when I go to bed. I have zero complaints on this product and I highly recommend.

This is a great blanket for your next polar vortex

This is the third SoftHeat by PerfectFit blanket that we have had. Our previous blankets lasted 4-5 years, multiple washings before something broke down. We would never buy anything except a PerfectFit manufactured warming blanket - the low voltage thin wire design provides subtle warmth with no hot spots in any weather. There are a couple of differences between this blanket and the last one we purchased - both are the triple ribbed plush however. First, the transformer that comes with the blanket is about half the size of the one in our older blanket and seems to get somewhat warmer - particularly when the blankets are set on high for any amount of time. (We may set ours on high to warm the bed but once under the blanket you will likely keep the blanket on a much lower setting). Second, the connector that connects the power cord to the blanket has been redesigned (this was a little bit of a disappointment because I was going to keep our old controller as a spare). On our older blanket the connector had a physical latch that latched the connector to the blanket. The newer version is more of a pure friction fit connector. My guess is that this was an intentional design change because one issue we did have with previous blankets is that it was possible to rip the connector assembly out of the blanket material if too much stress was put on it (from a spouse consistently yanking and stealing the covers, for instance). It appears now that if too much force is put on the connection it will simply pull apart avoiding damage to the blanket. Third as some have mentioned there seems to be a soft plastic liner in this newer blanket that the old one doesn't have. I'm not sure why this has been added unless it is to help should you spill liquid on the blanket. In any event, when the blanket is on the bed, it is completely unobtrusive and is not a reason not to choose this blanket. Finally, I've posted a picture of the control units. The controls consist of the controller itself and the 'transformer' that converts AC power to lower voltage DC that warms the blanket. A nice feature, the cords are long enough that you can route the power cords and transformer under the bed and out of sight. The control units themselves are very light weight - and although they have non-stick pads on the underside, we bought some hook and loop to secure them to our night tables so that they don't slide off in the middle of the night.

Something wrong with Soft Heat

I have owned several of these blankets because of the low price point, but they never last to get washed because they develop hot spots or just quit working after a season or two. This last ribbed fabric one is more substantial, but still wrinkles on the bed and does not lay flat. I have awakened several times in a sweat from the non breathability of the synthetic even on a low setting. I am not overweight or hormonal, just cold as I get older and this blanket is so skimpy that when my husband rolls over it pulls the blanket off me. Seems to be a large heating pad rather than a blanket; I'm on the lookout for a heavy wool replacement.

Really happy with this blanket!

I bought this blanket after too many nights spent feeling chilled. I liked the idea of the "cozy" heat, and the thin wires seemed ideal. It was easy to get arranged, and very soft! It's a fairly thin blanket, and won't add a great deal in terms of insulation. You'll want another blanket on top of it, realistically. The wires really are extremely thin! You can barely feel them even if you go poking around trying to find them. They definitely produce a good amount of warmth, though, and I haven't noticed a cold strip in between my side and my husband's. I'm really happy with my purchase so far, and I hope the blanket holds up!

Doesn’t last long enough for the price

I love love love the blanket. Soft, comfortable and nice and warm. This is the second one I bought. Unfortunately the first stopped working so I was issued refund from Amazon. I bought another one and it stopped working short of 2 years. Unfortunately my biggest issue with this blanket isn’t the item itself but my inability to get ahold of anyone for the limited warranty etc. I would give it 5 stars but the lack of communication is annoying when you invest so much into their items

the heat is GREAT!! i find myself having to use a way lower number then any other heating blanket. We have a sheet, then the heater blanket then our duvet and it gets HOT. level 6 becomes very hot after a while so turning it up further is not necessary for us. Our problem was when it arrived there was a tear and some other stitching that was coming undone, i immediately came on to request a return slip but they had no more in stock and i wanted to wait for them to have more as everywhere else was way way more expensive but i never heard back from the seller about this issue. so thats why i didnt give it 5 stars. But u truly dont feel the wires and there is amazing heat. still worth the money and if u should so happen to get my issue then id suggest sewing it.

PLEASE NOTE: The company that fulfills the warranty went bankrupt in 2020

I recently tried to make my 3rd claim in 5 years on my 5-year warranty. One controller stopped working (they replaced it), then the other a year later (they sent a whole new blanket), and now one side of that blanket stopped heating. However I discovered that Perfect Fit Industries, which is the company named in the user manual to call with issues, no longer exists. Nor does Soft Heat, the company shown on this page as the Manufacturer. On the blanket packaging it says "2018 Perfect Fit Industries, LLC. SoftHeat, Invisiwire, Safe & Warm, and Perfect Fit are registered trademarks of Perfect Fit Industries LLC. 8501 Tower Point Dr., Charlotte, NC 28227 I spoke twice with Amazon about this. They didn't know about the bankruptcy. They were glad for the heads-up and they're going to look into this because they said they don't sell things that aren't supported by the seller or manufacturer.

Multi zone feature is great, dial controls are nice

Multi zone feature is great, dial controls are nice. Indicator is backlit, not LED. Don't care about it being low voltage, or maybe I do as even on max, the heat output is modest and struggled/was insufficient in a cold room. After about 12-18 months, the modest heat stopped working reliably in places, and now at about the two year mark, is basically non-functional. The wires are indeed difficult to feel, still retains softness and utility as a traditional blanket, which it is pretty good at being so it sticks around on the bed, but would seek out more powerful alternatives unless the heat generation is inconsequential.. In which case, there are many cheaper alternatives without the wires.
