The ultimate book on cruise ship work

I've wanted to work on ships for years and this book answered every question I wanted to ask. The most amazing part is the list of agents who book acts. I was able to send off my promo to these agents and the response has been very good. I have other cruise ship books but nothing compares to this - this is by far the best out there!

Excellent Preparatory Book for Those Magicians Wishing To Work Aboard Cruise Ships

As a part time professional magician, I was thoroughly impressed with Paul's tome on working cruise ships. He covers it all, and in exacting detail that ensures the reader truly understands what is required to get work in this select and highly competitive environment. Even if you don't plan on working cruise ships, many of Paul's lessons can be used for those who simply wish to perform locally, or in a 100-mile radius of their hometown. Strongly recommended reading for magicians. Buy it today.

Paul Rohmanys book was incredible. he didn't leave ANYTHING out, and was very very detailed. best book on the subject i have read so far!

Slightly disappointing overall but still a 'BUY@

Having read the blurb and the other reviews I have to be honest and say that I was hoping for more than this book provided. However, this may be unfair as the information provided is I'm sure correct but I just felt that for $30 and 268 pages I actually got about 20 pages of good useful information and over 200 pages of a diary which didn't really enhance the book in any way. Therein lies the main problem for the author, either produce a 'leaflet' of 20 pages containing all the relevant information and have people decide if they want to pay $30 (unlikely) for such a small publication or 'bloat' it out with a diary and some anecdotes and sell it as a full size book.... I do understand why the author made the decision he did and for any magician considering the cruise industry as a venue the pro's of the book outweigh the negatives, I don't regret buying it and having worked in the cruise industry (in another field) many years ago it does seem accurate and I don't think any real complaints about this book are justified.

I found this book to be a great read and (more importantly), I also found it to be a highly valuable resource for any magicians that seek to break into (and succeed at) the business of entertaining on cruise ships. Not only is this 270 page book well-written and chock-full of insider information on how to secure well-paying work on cruise ships, there are tons of facts about ships and ship life and details about day-to-day life as a Guest Entertainer on a ship (the good times ... and the not-so-good times). Plus, in a further effort to share the richness that a career in cruise ship entertainment might offer, Romhany has included beautiful photos from around the world, and even excerpts from his very own personal journal --which draw the reader into this fascinating world and illustrates the author's very own life on board ship in ways which most other authors might not be willing (able) to share. In addition, Romhany has included up-to-date web addresses, a glossary of ship terms and cruise ship contact information that will surely accelerate the learning curve for those that have the true spark, desire, and talent to pursue launching their career as a successful cruise ship entertainer. For more seasoned entertainers, this guide should also prove both interesting and informative. With more than 20 years of experience and knowledge gained both on land and while entertaining audiences afloat, Paul Romhany has created a wonderful resource and story-telling guide. Indispensable

There is so much information packed into his book that I am going to be rereading it many times. The list of cruise ship talent agent's is worth the price of the book. Before reading this book I searched the internet for information on performing for cruise ships, and most of the information in this book is not out there. Another review negatively mentioned the diary chapter. I however found it to be extremely useful. Imagine sitting down with a professional performer and getting first hand information on what day to day life is like for a guest performer, that is what the diary chapter provides. I highly recommend this book for any traveling performer!
