Loved this reel!

Used it fishing for trout and landed several in the 1 1/2 lb range using 10 pound test line. The reel accommodated the line just fine. Huge improvement over a typical open faced reel. No ice balls snagging line on the reel. So smooth and controlled dropping line. Just ordered two more.

Not the color of choice...

Yeah... it's not black with a red spool... it's black with a pink spool. The aluminum spool is anodized (corrosion prevention treatment for aluminums) and they either didn't leave it in long enough, didn't mix the alkaline enough, didn't use enough color, or just flat out used the wrong color.

best reel for ice fishing I ever used

Not what I thought it would be

Drag stinks, it's either too tight or to loose, not smooth, and the star drag is always moving. Free spool has a friction adjust, but is useless with light jigs, you still have to strip line on a tight spool or you get a backlash. One of the two handles is bent on mine and makes reeling in not so smooth, And yes it's pink

it's plastic.

Haven't used it yet, but first thoughts are it feels cheap. Only the spool is aluminum the rest of the reel is plastic. It comes left handed reel, you can change it to right handed reel if you desire (which was a pain). Feels like it will serve its purpose, but I'm not sure how it will hold up if I hook up with a large fish (being plastic and all).
