Ignore the 1 star reviews, this is exactly as advertised
Recieved it on time and in aformentioned plastic bag. Most of the 1 star reviews are people who clearly didn't even bother looking at the product picture. The description clearly states that these straps are made in the 1950's. You can check what year your strap is made by looking in the strap, it's not stamped outside. Mine was made July 17th, 1952. The "green goo" people are talking about is the oxidized coating, it comes off with a bit of elbow grease using hot water and an old toothbrush. It's a bit nasty to deal with but for a 70+ year old strap I'm not surprised and the product picture reflects exactly what I got. My assumption is that these are unused surplus from an old storage crate. The canvas of the strap is in good condition and overall I'm very happy with my purchase given the fact that it's so cheap for a genuine surplus strap that I'm going to use on my rifle. But be forewarned, the strap is not a full length rifle strap so you will need 550/paracord, from end to end the strap is 30" exactly. But to close this out, ignore the idiots who gave it a low review because they were too lazy to even look at the product picture, it's a good purchase if you are willing to do a little cleanup work.

Good
A bit of an oily feel to the straps, but overall they are good.

Very good universal sling
Good old surplus! Only down is the green corrosion, but soaking in vinegar, and a stiff gun brush did the job. Just be aware.

Another example of how things USED to be made to last!
This strap is exactly as described. Green patina oxidized fittings, but nothing a little white vinegar plus vigorous steel brush application, and voila! Good as new and better than modern day products. Perfect!

Not Cotton. Not Canvas. Melts…
NOT - Genuine US military Issued Surplus ( No tag or markings ) NOT - Made of canvas ( Melts, likely polypropylene or nylon ) NOT - Vintage 1950's ( by any stretch of the imagination ) Not made of Cotton . . . material is shiny and melted at the cut ends by the factory or assembler. Not as pictured... The image shows a clearly vintage piece with a bit of authentic oxidization... Sturdy and made adequately -- but not cotton, linen, or any natural material. Speculation is that it is Chinese surplus... ( Note: This is the second strap for separate purposes, made in China, that was not made from cotton as it was described )

Great piece thank you
A lot of people are complaining about the wax/grease coating on the metal; just get an old rag rubs right off no problems or worries. That's what they did back in the day in military storage facilities to protect metal from corrosion and rust.

Yes it has corrosion, but it’s still a great buy!
My strap came with green/blue corrosion on all the buckles but this is to be expected. These old straps have brass hardware and since they are 70 years old this hardware has reacted with the paint and corroded. Not a deal breaker by any stretch. The best thing to do with these old straps is simply take hot water, soap, and a tooth brush and scrub the corrosion off and then soak and wash the entire strap. Ring out the excess water and then throw it in the dryer with some towels and when it comes out it will be baby soft, super supple, and look and feel like an old military surplus strap should. In conclusion, for $6.50 shipped I’m buying a couple more just to keep on hand. They make excellent rifle slings and the quality can’t be beat for the money.

Very basic very reliable.
It's not a high spec sling by any means, but it's reliable. I do not have to baby this sling. The spring tabs that hold the sling onto the gun need to be bent further to prevent the sling from coming loose (Might just be mine that was loose.) and the strange substance that I think is to preserve the metal parts is a bastard to get off. Once you fix those very small issues this is a perfectly serviceable sling. I don't have a picture at the moment but mine came with what I think is a "U.S." property mark. The rest of the text is faded and barely readable.
