Mini Polario 10ML Low Voltage Water Pump

I have had this pump for 4 days. This is a nice little QUIET pump. Yes I can hear a very SLIGHT humming sound as it moves water faster every 5 seconds in alternating directions-just like the product description says. For the reviews that state the pump makes a horrible sound when full speed-yes it does when you have the pump TOO close to the top of your aquarium. This little pump moves A LOT of water as it builds up momentum and if positioned too close to the water line it will suck air into the pump which causes a very unpleasant sound and produces air bubbles in your aquarium, you can see the air being pulled into the tank -a little common sense goes a long way. I have mine hanging from the glass top right in the middle of my 40 gallon breeder reef tank and there is nice water movement and no disturbing noise at all once I lowered it to the proper level in the tank. I still have one of my smaller power heads going since i keep sponges in my reef and they need lots of water flow. . .I will very likely buy another mini polario of the same size because I like the way this pump works, plug it in, position it properly ( in the center of your tank) and forget it. For my tank i wish I had purchased the fastest pump they had-then I would only need the one pump which would be very nice aesthetically. . ..I am very pleased with the water movement , The flow is great, i can see my copepods in the current when i feed my tank, the corals are waving around nicely. The pump did fall into my crushed coral substrate very briefly during routine cleaning and the pump just stopped working. When i took it apart there was the tiniest bit of sand/coral but once I rinsed it out the pump began working just fine again. The pump is compact, at least half the size of a regular power head. I give it 5 stars because the ebb and flow current it creates without having to program anything is awesome. I am a huge fan of the magnet mounting system-there is enough to maintain in a reef aquarium without having to worry about crappy suction cups coming undone, Aesthetically it's the smallest , best working pump I have ever owned.

Unless you want your fish to die I wouldn't buy this pump the holes are way too big. It butchered two of my bluegreen chromis* update a net works well the reverse flow keeps food from getting stuck on it, and with the net it's safe for my sea slug 2.

Works Great but the guard holes are too big.

Very happy with this powerhead, the dual motion works great. I experimented with a few different locations, it's an unusual configuration compared to a typical one, and I found that it works the best on the rear glass panel behind some rock. I can't believe this just happened! Just as I was writing this review my green goby, my favorite fish, just got sucked into the this pump and died! Right in front of my eyes! The pump had been there for about three months, I'm very sad now. Absolutely unbelievable!

Underpowered but performs as described.

Product does exactly as described. Love the action, and watching the corals sway in the current. Slightly disappointed with the amount of water movement, as it seems a bit underpowered for my 75 gallon tank. Definitely will consider purchasing another one, but will upgrade to the next step. Probably end up using this one on my 50 gallon. Minimal issues with noise, I can hear a slight wine when the motor is at full RPM. Overall a good product, and performs exactly as described.

Nice pump if you like police sirens

This pump works quite well and the wave action was good. However, and another reviewer mentioned this, there is a quite loud, high pitched whine as the pumps speeds up. I am in a different room as I type this and I can still hear it. If it were constant, it might become white noise but it hasn't after a couple of days. If you enjoy the sound of police sirens, this pump would be great but for me, its irritating. Will return it.

Works non stop so far

Wish their new surge pump would get out on the market after telling me for 6 months it would? This is great and although would like more flow it does circulate well with the multi-speed design. Have an old Polario and that has run for YEARS with no problems and is quiet. The design keeps it from getting clogged which is fantastic. This little one seems to do the very same thing. A++++
