Super Tool for Lifting Clothes

Love my reachers, but for lifting clothes you can't beat this. Only had it for a short time, but can't imagine living without it. Lite weight, but sturdy.

Get the right length for the user

I got this for someone I work for as a caregiver. He has two of them in differing lengths, depending on how bendy he feels from day to day. It is very hand for putting on his socks, and it's smooth and slides them on easily. It takes some practice. If you have a fairly flexible back, get the shorter one, otherwise get the longer one so you don't have to bend over so much to maneuver it. It's easy to hang anywhere by the hook part, and easy to find when dressing. It can be used to pull your shirt from your pants when undressing, and to hook a button to pull a dress shirt closed. It also comes in handy as a back ssratcher! No elderly patient should be without one of these handy sticks. I rated it down just a little because the plastic part breaks under too much pressure. But don't we all?

I ended up buying two

Pulling up the compression socks is a pain post surgery this was a handy tool to help but the screw in the end of the pole was a little precarious and I bought two...the first stick never did break during the first four weeks of use but I was being cautious, because I really did need a dress stick during the first 4 weeks....

Its Used Daily

I use this every day since I had my stroke. I think it could be made a little stronger but it works ok for now. I've had it over a year with no major issues.

Important to have for socks.

This is supposed to assist with clothing. I have found that a quality reacher works better to get underpants, shorts and slacks on. This is good to help get socks off. It’s not easy if the socks are on the tighter side but it works. The grippers on the reacher are not sturdy enough to push socks down - might break it. This product has limited but important use.

Simple Tool, Remarkably Helpful

I purchased this to help with getting dressed after my hip replacement. If you have gone through anything like that, especially if there is no one around to help you, then you know how indispensable a tool like this can be. You simply hook your pants on it and use it to reach down and pull them up. The hooks pivot to make things easier. Makes an otherwise virtually impossible task very easy. Though not designed for it, it also has been effective as a shoe horn substitute to get my soft slippers on. This stick is nothing fancy, but it gets the job done well for a reasonable price.

It won't last more than a few months if used daily

It doesn't hold up to long-term use, ends loosen in a few months time if used daily. The hook for zippers loosens and twirls around and the contoured hook at the other end bends and eventually breaks because of donning and removing pressure socks.

Poor quality

Find that double hook end only screws into wood. It loosens & bends. Could be sturdier with longer screw I would think ???????? Somewhat useful but not as convenient as I thought it wld be.
