Candles don't fit.

The bases of this candle holder are not quite big enough to hold a standard 3" column candle. I'll have to carve down the bottom of each candle to make them fit.

Should have listened to other reviews

The cups for holding candles is just slightly too small for standard 3-inch pillar candles. The option is to shave them--who wants to shave 5 large candles? or just rest the candles on top of the black candle holders. In which case, I could have just gotten a piece of wood and put it on the table. Otherwise, I liked the look just fine, even though the wood is not a solid piece.
