Great beginner sonar.

This sonar is great for any water that is still or very mild movement. I use it for saltwater fishing and it has proven useful for reading the ocean floor. I have noticed that it sometimes doesn't connect to the app. I don't know if this is the device or the apps fault. Note: you must turn your mobile data off to have this work properly. If you don't it will not work at all!

Great With Issues - But Resolved

Update: 3/4/2021 Finally Deeper support cleared out my issue! I am a happy camper! New one works perfectly and connects! __________________________________ Update: 2/23/2021 Received new one. Same issue as before. The unit does not display Deeper START in the Wifi network like the first one I purchased that stopped working after a week. Tried on two different phones, laptops and tablets. What does appear is ESP_2B6442 which is the device but support clarified that is wrong. Nonetheless I tried to connect to that and it immediately fails. So a 3rd unit now does this. Contacting support again and they are sending another one. Wifi+ is off, there is no VPN and the phone has been restarted to eliminate any issues. Device placed on charge or in water and away from other Wifi devices and no effect. Unit is flashing that's it's broadcasting, app has all permissions also but that does not matter when the correct Wifi name can not be connected to. Unit is fully charged, Mobile/Cellular data is off, WiFi assist is off, Smart network management does not exist, Portable WiFi hotspot is off. That covers anything and still does not work properly. I have spent days to make it work and 3 in a row are doing this. I sent them back and waiting for support to diagnose what is going on, Deeper application has permission to use "Mobile/Cellular" and "Location". To check this, go to your "Phone settings" -> "Application settings" and find "Fishdeeper". __________________________________ Update: 2/19/2021 After speaking with Deeper support they determined a second unit is faulty? They are sending another replacement. I asked they test it before sending it out and they stated they will. Customer service is great but having the company in Lithuania and having to wait to get a replacement from there puts a damper on my fishing schedule and usage of the Deeper. Will update once received. __________________________________ Update: 2/14/2021 New unit received and same issue. Deeper does not appear on list of Wifi devices to connect to. Does not appear on my Huawei Mate 10 nor my LG K10 nor my new Asus Zenbook nor on my Samsung Galaxy tablet nor on my Dell PC Wifi network. It appears to be a bad batch/series? I have emailed support again to see what they will do again. Initially the first unit I had would display Deeper in the Wifi list to connect to. Then it never appeared again and now only displays ESP_280119 which I know is the unit due to the serial number but you can never connect to it. It just fails when you try. This is what both units are doing now. I have emailed their support for an answer but I mentioned that it appears they have a bad batch of these and are not being certified tested leaving the factory. __________________________________ Update: 2/13/2021 4 stars now. After contacting support, they determined my unit was faulty. They are sending a new replacement at no charge via UPS. Will see how the replacement is received and how it works. __________________________________ Update: 2/8/2021 Changed from 1 to 2 star for now. After contacting Deeper support they (quickly, one day turn time) determined that the unit is to exchanged. Now that is what I call excellent service! I will update again once this issue is resolved and the replacement is received and how it works and what occurred with Deeper support. __________________________________ Initial review: 2/4/2021 Purchased a week ago. Only used it once and it worked perfectly. One week later it does not work anymore. Does not show in Wi-Fi anymore to connect to. Contacted support. Never seen a device fail so quickly with hardly any usage, disappointing.

Fantastic if you have money to blow

I really liked this item, its easy-ish to use(easier if someone else holds the phone). I thought it was very accurate. However it is worth noting that it is quite heavy and will fly far! I will admit mine broke free of the 30lb braid and floated away(it was night time so once it broke off we couldn't see it). I wont buy another one because its crazy expensive, but I would recommend others to buy it if they have the spare money and are interested if their fishing hole is dead or active.

Deeper Start

At first, it's a bit confusing but when you use it a few times. It's fun and easy to use. Here's a few tips: Down load app; Fish Deeper it's a basic app for Deeper start on your cellphone. Follow easy instructions from your Deeper. Once at lake or pond. Cast deeper into 3 feet or higher water so it can connect. Make sure your wifi is connected to deeper start. For any reason it's not working perfectly. You need to do the following! (1) Very important to turn off your VPN if you have one. Go to settings and turn off VPN to internet once at lake or pond. (2) for better connection do this. Go to settings on your cellphone and go to Apps. Hit symbol app, then hit storage, clear cache. Repeat all app symbols and clear cache. Especially the internet and wifi apps. This will make your cellphone faster and easier to connect to wifi on your cellphone on to your Deeper start. (3) Go to settings on cellphone, go to Notifications; Turn ON; DO NOT DISTURB if you have one? (4) for any reason it does not want to work: turn off internet Once you play with it a few times. You will have a blast. Remember! The batteries used on most devices are lipo batteries. After used the battery needs to be at 45-50 percent power (storage mode). Not in used, To maintain and help your battery last for many years. For fishing line? I was using 40lbs braided line on a baitcasting rod and reel. Happy fishing!

Not 100% percent accurate but helps.

Took the deeper start out for a day trip with the boys. It was kind of hit or miss. The depth reading seem to be accurate but when reeling the device a few feet away from the boat it would start pinging fish after fish. Not sure if it was the boat itself or something underneath but there definitely wasn't any fish. It did help with not spending a lot of time in an area with no fish and the boys and I did manage to catch a few perch so the product wasn't a total bust. Don't expect it to be 100% accurate and its the cheapest model of the deeper products.

Tackle bag essential.

Have been using across half a dozen venues. Incredibly easy to use. Great to find hidden depths. Gives that extra confidence to be mobile as you can quickly establish areas to fish without the normal hassle. Mildly terrifying at first to cast out a lovely looking bit of electronic kit however following the guidance on line strength and triple checking your knot ensure it quickly feels normal. I love the depth finder aspect, however have found the fish locator a little underwhelming having failed to register fish visible to the naked eye, and other wise has not shown its self to highlight any fish. I have checked my app settings to ensure this setting was on. Overall a solid, well built product that does increase my knowledge of the lake I am fishing on. The depth finder saves time and has shown to be accurate in my experience. The fish locator has not been useful to me personally however the depth finders usefulness outweighs this issue. A really solid gift idea for a coarse angler.
