Extremely expensive for the quality of materials

Extremely expensive for the quality of materials. Taking off the light to open lid every time is a pain. No cable management if you wanted to have a heat mat inside.

The tray is sturdy. The light works great. The heating mat helps with germination. I have purchased 4 of these. Will use again next year!

Looks great but not sure if it’s working

The light works great but the plastic cover is a bit flimsy. The first few days it created condensation but haven’t done that since then. I’m not sure bc the cover is not tight or what but I haven’t succeeded with my propagation and this is not only bc if the kit only but I’ll try it again.

Love the space saver

Set it up and put a tray and several starter plants inside. I’m a bit of a clutz so for me the cover could be sturdier. I've had iy a short time and the cord with switch is disconnecting. Amazon does not handle issues with this item and the company has an answering system that is of little help.

great idea, poor execution

This product is frustrating in the sense that you WISHED it was better executed because the idea behind it is so great. The dome is made of cheap flimsy plastic, very similar to the take-our containers. The tray is not a lot better, but will not leak. The light is decent and fits great. Overall the design is great, the materials used, boooooy did they mess that up. Honesty, it's not worth the price. The plastic will give out soon, and every time I take out the dome to mist the cuttings, I could do an honest mistake and break it. If you want something that's not single use, take the idea behind it, and get a solid seedling tray with a separate light that can fit at the top, you'll have a more lasting solution.

Amazing for starting seeds

I used this to start basil seeds with (and soon some peppers) I really like the swivel vents at the top to control humidity. The light slides perfectly into place. Cons It is a little expensive for what it is. Wish it came with a heating pad at the price point of $50

Read before you buy!

As seedling starters go, this one is simply: mediocre. I mean, it gets the job done.. kinda? So here are my main complaints with this product: to begin with, mine came missing a top adjustment slider. This means that I was unable to control how much water vapor left the dome, and rendered the whole thing essentially useless out of the box in regards to temperature and humidity control. I decided to leave a Tupperware container with some water in it atop the hole, as I still had to refill with a bit of water at the bottom to maintain humidity. This proved quite effective in maintaining desired moisture level, but it still allows for vapor to leave. I may have been sent a defective product, but in my opinion, a little quality control never hurts. Moving on, I also do not like how the dome does not clasp to the outside of the seedling tray. This allows for gaps between the top and bottom, therefore allowing for water vapor to escape. I did enjoy, however, the design for the top; the cut-out for the cfl is a stroke of brilliance. I also appreciate the reflectors, as that is a quality of life item that I find necessary on small output lights like these. Paired with a heating mat (10x20 Vivosun), my seedlings we’re sprouting and we’re happy as can be. All of my clone-propagated plants, despite some not rooting, showed no sign of transpiration water loss, aside from a few leaves withering. I also enjoyed the height of the dome, I think it is at a perfect height. Overall, I wish I could give this 5 stars. Even 4. But the simple fact that my product came in defective, and the clear lack of design testing, led to a difficult-to-get-right setup for my seedlings. I would only recommend buying this if you also buy a cheap heat mat with it. It’s cheaper to buy this and some other heat Mat. This company also overcharges for the heat mat compared to other brands.

Light fixture quit after 4 months and there is no customer service

I used the product twice for 2 weeks at a time.(4 weeks total) After 3 1/2 months the light stopped working so I contacted the seller and he advised me to contact the manufacturer. I have messaged the manufacture 2 and I have yet to get a response. The product is crap and there is no support by either the seller or the manufacturer. I would definitely try to find this somewhere else. Seller has lost a customer for life!!!!!

Great design, but plastic too thin on part of tray.

When I opened my box finally today and went to use it, the first thing I noticed was a defect in the tray. There is a spot on the tray where the plastic is so thin, its almost a guarantee that it will become a hole in time. I held the tray up to a light and you can clearly see the defect (see pic). The rest of the tray is as expected, but I'm not sure if this is a one off mistake. The light is ok, will definitely be handy and has a good reflector. There is a product booklet that comes with it, unfortunately it's more descriptive then any instructions on the box. The product design is great, but just has a flimsy feel due to extra thin plastic, but that is somewhat needed on the dome for transparency I guess. All that being said, the product does as described and can be a handy addition to a startup.

Order with the heating mat

I am a new gardener, I got this and realized I needed a heating mat so I had to order that separately. The light was too high for starting seeds so I’m not using the cover and have a couple of glasses holding the light (4 inches over the starting seeds). I do quite like it though, wish me luck with my tomatoes and basil!

Great way to start your seeds

I was overall pleased with this. The dome and tray were a little thinner in structure than I thought but overall does a nice job. The lamp gives powerful light and the plants spouted nice and green. I recommend the heat mat as well.

Just ok. Flimsy lid. Not a great buy.

It’s just ok. Disappointed with the quality of the clear dome. I have clear sones that are very sturdy. This one is not. Product is decent. Not excellent.
